From all the middleweight that moved up thiago and anthony smith were the most successful even though they were not that good at mw, now weidman, jacare And luke have all lost their fights and are primarily grapplers ( luke isn't but his striking is awful and he tried to wrestle in his fight ) so is lhw a better weightclass for strikers?

3 of the 4 best Light Heavyweights of all time are/were wrestlers.

It's a better weight class for ya mum

They all looked small as heck in their LHW attempts. You have two guys in Weidman and Rockhold who were getting flushed at MW. Going to LHW wasn’t going to solve their defensive issues. Now they’re just at a higher risk of getting KO’d by these heavy hitters. Jacare spent his entire match trying to get Jans down and the size difference was obvious. If you can’t get your opponent on the ground, winning on the feet is the only other option. Hard to do when the opponent has 1 hit KO power.

Jon strikes more than wrestle but not by much, cormier strikes a lot aswell even if they are wrestlers the ground game isnt very common in this division

It certainly does not favors small ppl that cant use their wrestling due to size-disadvantage (no weightclass do) like Weidman and Jacare recently.

As a striker you can get away with being small like gastelum (with good tdd) but never as a wrestler

Colby begs to differ

He is small for 170 yet wrestlefucks everyone

Way different weightclasses, strenght matters more in the higher weightclasses and the punches are also heavier so wrestling someone gets more difficult

Not really.

When you're fighting someone who is basically the same size as you with comparable skills being the stronger man is just as important from FLW to HW and unless you are giving up a huge amount of size punches don't really get any harder.

If someone used to getting hit by LWs is suddenly getting hit by a LHW then yeah, it would be significantly heavier due to the size difference but like everything else its all relative hence why weight classes exist.

These MW were all big MW who were entering the cage on fight nights anyway (with the exception of Jacare) after dieting and starving themselves for weeks so they could weigh 185lbs for 30 seconds, something they no longer have to do although all of them are likely still cutting a bit to make 205.

It's weird that the apparent greats of the MW division (all grappling based) can't move up without getting beat up in the division we're always hearing is so weak without getting beat up by guy's of the same caliber "never that good" Silva was able to easily destroy.

Yet the striking based guys who couldn't crack the top 10 somehow managed to win their way to title shots, TS might be on to something here....
