Erceg is being underestimated

Not by me. Pantoja should definitely be the favourite but Erceg is a live dog with nothing to lose.
I think a lot of peple think Erceg can do well. My thing is can Erceg avoid the grappling. Pantoja's ability to take the back is insane so it's possible he could end it quick and easy. I think the first round will tell us a lot but if Erceg can keep him away and standing he's got a pretty got shot at winning.

Crazy fight imo. I don’t think anyone is underestimating Erceg. Like I haven’t seen a single person say Pantoja is way better and will smash easily. (Which is totally a possibility too)

I think Pantoja is gonna roll through him personally, but the betting lines don't agree.

I just don't think Erceg has fought anyone at Pantoja's level and........as the saying goes.....there's levels to this.
Pantoja has NEVER been submitted in 32 Pro fights, so I really don't think thats gonna happen on Saturday.

Erceg's only path to victory is a KO win, which is possible I guess but low probability.

I'd say Pantoja subs Steve Carell Steve Erceg in Rd 2 or 3.

dropped some $$ on erceg at +200

have a feeling he finds pantoja's chin with his lenght and straight punches

When you say "find his chin", I'm assuming you're not referencing a TKO?

Erceg is not a TKO guy, and Pantoja has never been finished.

He might land enough to go to a decision.

I don’t know. I think a lot of people got impressed with the Schnell fight and now think Erceg is a ko artist. He has a grand total of 2 ko wins. He certainly looks good and is skilled, but his lack of experience at the top level makes Pantoja a clear favourite. Plus, he has never fought past the third round.

I keep seeing this, too.

It's a bit like calling Nicolau a KO artist on the back of his win over Schnell.

I mean, anyone can theoretically KO anyone, especially if someone tires, but come on.

Neither Erceg or Nicolau are even remotely close to KO specialists.

Erceg can hurt people with strikes, but he severely lacks power.

Schnell has a negative-strength chin.

Pantoja's mental toughness is one of his better attributes, we all know that, and fighting in the main event of his home country will probably enhance that, but he also has a habit of getting into sloppy striking exchanges and is facing a bigger, more calculated guy.

Very good chance of an upset this weekend. Astroboy is no joke and might have his way for 5 rounds, if not find a finish.

That is all. Feel free to bump this thread if it blows up in my face.
Erceg is less than a 2-1 underdog. How is he being underestimated?

For a guy who is 3-0 in the UFC with no wins over marquee fighters, he's being rated quite appropriately.

Half of fans are picking him to win, & he's only +160. He's only had 3 fights in the ufc & has no real top 10 wins. Schnell may have been top 10 by tanking but nobody would pick him to beat fring top 15 guys like Ulanbekov, Taira, Van, etc.

Pantoja by sub @ +300 is juicy, but straight up -200 amazing value. No other champion would be this disrespected.

Erceg is a more interesting challenge than Mokaev. Folks just don't know about him and he doesn't have a signature win.

Erceg gets caught in long swinging exchanges and I could see Pantoja catching him as he might be the hardest hitting at FLW

only reason Erceg got this title shot is because he was the only one in the top 10 that was available and was coming off of a win.
i havent seen anything to be impressed by. Pantoja's probably gonna clean house. maybe wins by submission but at the very least will win a decision.

that's funny because i thought the Schnell fight confirmed some things that i only wondered about before. he doesn't move his head and he got rocked by Schnell in some of those exchanges. the other funny thing is Erceg pretty much addressed that in his post fight interview, so at least he's aware of the weakness.

I've loved what I've seen from Erceg, but I am also aware his entire fight history is softball and fighting guys coming off multiple losses.

It's not Erceg's fault and all he's done is buzz saw everyone put in front of him, but he has never faced anyone with close the talent level of Pantoja. This fight is a wildcard because it could be a massively unlikely new major talent and star, or it could be a total blowout massacre because we've never seen Erceg actually fight anyone good.
