Crime Gary Glitter released

i'm not at all familiar with gary glitter, but judging by just the name, i would have to figure that he's some kind of gay porn star and gary glitter is his stage name.

Rock Star is a stretch. He had one song and it was extremely popular at Sporting Events.

The Denver Broncos would play it after touchdowns for a VERY long time

When Mile High Stadium was all made of structural steel, the entire place would shake with fans stomping to the beat

It was unreal, Mile High was known as the loudest stadium back then

Lots of teams played it… terrible song, but a fucking great song for fans to sing after score

You had to have heard it. I think it was first played in Canada during hockey games

Gadd

Paul Gadd, known as the former pop star Gary Glitter, who is in prison for sexually abusing three girls, has lost a Parole Board bid to be freed.

A parole hearing took place behind closed doors last month to consider the 79-year-old’s case.

Gadd was jailed for 16 years in 2015 for sexually abusing three schoolgirls between 1975 and 1980. His sentence expires in February 2031.

He was automatically released from HMP the Verne, a low-security prison in Portland, Dorset, in February last year after serving half of his fixed-term determinate sentence.

Gadd was put back behind bars less than six weeks after walking free for breaching his licence conditions by allegedly viewing downloaded images of children.

In a decision published on Wednesday, the Parole Board said: "After considering the circumstances of his offending, the lack of progress made while in custody and on licence, and the other evidence presented at the hearing, the panel was not satisfied that release at this point would be safe for the protection of the public.

Rather, the panel considered that Mr Gadd was appropriately located in custody where outstanding levels of risk could be addressed.”

He doesn't deserve to see the light of day again.

Great sports song, maybe best ever
Garbage human being

And now I don’t think it gets played anymore

Interesting video. Had no idea that song immigrated from Canada when Denver’s first failed hockey came to town

He was a huge star in the 70s and had loads of hits. He wasn't quite in that legend category as Marc Bolan or Slade, but he was one of the biggest stars of the glam rock era. It probably didn't translate over to the US.

Looks like he only got out for 6 weeks.... Story from a few hrs ago.

Disgraced singer Gary Glitter refused jail release

Convicted sex offender Gary Glitter will remain behind bars after losing a Parole Board bid.

Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was jailed for 16 years in 2015 for sexually abusing three schoolgirls between 1975 and 1980.

The 79-year-old was automatically released in February last year but was put back behind bars six weeks later after breaching his licence conditions.

A panel said Gadd continued to show a "lack of victim empathy".

The summary of the Parole Board panel's decision said: "It found on the evidence that at the time of the offending, and while he was on licence, Mr Gadd had a sexual interest in underage girls."

It said Gadd had not taken part in any programmes in prison to address his offending and continues to deny having a sexual interest in children.

The decision published by the Parole Board on Wednesday continued: "After considering the circumstances of his offending, the lack of progress made while in custody and on licence, and the other evidence presented at the hearing, the panel was not satisfied that release at this point would be safe for the protection of the public.

"Rather, the panel considered that Mr Gadd was appropriately located in custody where outstanding levels of risk could be addressed."

The hearing last month took place in secret after a request for proceedings to be heard in public was rejected.

Lawyer Richard Scorer, who represents one of Gadd's victims, told the Press Association news agency: "This is the right decision and in our view the only decision that the parole board could have made.

"Everything we know about Gadd/Glitter indicates that he remains a risk to children and has never shown any remorse."

Gadd was first jailed in the late 1990s for possessing thousands of child abuse images.

After being freed for the first time, he moved abroad but was expelled from Cambodia in 2002 amid reports of sex crime allegations.

In March 2006, he was convicted of abusing two girls, aged 10 and 11, in Vietnam and was jailed for two-and-a-half years.

Gadd's crimes stretching back to the 1970s were uncovered after Operation Yewtree was launched in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

The investigation led to inquiries over historic sex offences committed by other celebrities, including former entertainer Rolf Harris and celebrity agent Max Clifford.

During the height of his fame, Gadd had three UK number ones including I'm the Leader of the Gang (I am!).

Really? Lol

I first heard his name when I was trying to download that song on Napster … late 90’s?

I only knew it as the Hey song and had zero idea who sung it.

That hey song is called Rock & Roll part 2.

It's basically a reprise of Rock & Roll part 1, the full length vocal version which was actually the big hit.

His songs were everywhere in 80s films. You'll probably be surprised how many you know. His other worldwide hit was 'leader of the gang'

It was known as British pub fight glam rock. The first time I saw someone get a snooker cue snapped over their head was in a pub playing this kind of music. AHH the memories

Why isn't there a law to just chemically castrate them? There's a paedo jail somewhere in the US where the prisoners actually ask for it. It dulls their tendencies to re-offend. That's a start, no?

I agree with chemical castration. These sick fucks have a really high recidivism rate.

If he was sent into a US prison, he would've been killed by the inmates.

I just looked up Leader of the Gang. I was born in 71... Never heard of that song.

Don't think anyone in the US knew this guy except for Pro Sports games.

Chemical castration doesn't fix the problem, as it's not all about sexual intercourse for them.

Its about power, manipulation, etc.
The recidivism rate for these scumbags is crazy high.

What they need to do is detach their heads, and be done with it.

Getting off early for "good behavior" should not be a thing for pedophiles. There are no kids in prison so obviously they would be well behaved.

It was a very British thing. Working class beer drinking lads wearing silver suits, long hair and glitter make up.

if you ever get bored, watch some interviews with Slade. They're fucking hilarious

So there won’t be a world tour featuring Gary Glitter and Rolf Harris?

Definitely got Benny Hill vibes from that guy. Just a funny deranged look... lol

I think the extent of my British TV Culture was limited to 70's/80's PBS from shows like Hitchhikers Guide the Galaxy, Dr Who, All Creatures Great & Small... and Monty Python of course.
