Has Sherdog ever been more wrong about a hypetrain like Ngannou?

The Franc hype was pretty over the top, even by MMA standards. People were arguing him for GOAT HW and they were actually serious lmao

I remember people going pretty crazy for Sokojou after starching Lil Nog and Arona

After Arona there were a lot of people saying Sokodjou would KO a prime Fedor easily...a LOT of people.

Man I thought Hettes was going to be a killer. I thought he was going to be a lighter weight version of J-Lau. Put a clinic on Nam Phan.
Yep I was on the Hettes hype train big time

Yeah, I had him in my signature for a long time after that fight. Oh well.

People get caught up in marketing and promotional hype. Guys like Jimmie Rivera and Horiguchi get underrated as a result.

Way too early to call him hype. He still appears to be a good heavyweight

well, if anyone thought pure power would be all you need to never lose in MMA, you're a fool.. but to say he's completely exposed isnt true, you saw Stipe get rocked in round 1, and again in round 3 even after Ngannou looked like he was on life support.. He needs to cut down some of that muscle and improve cardio & he will be fine. Someone needs to tell him that you don't need to hit like a Ford Escort to knock people out, if instead you hit and have the gas mileage of a Honda Civic you'll win more fights.

Ronda before she fought Holly possibly? Countless people expected Ronda to win despite Holly being the massive underdog.

Agreed. He's was totally overhyped to the point that it made me sick but no doubt he's a a good HW and he proved that tonight. Stipe is just elite.

So you think Overeem was KO'd because of his glass chin?
You think he would have eaten that shot if he had a good chin?
Valid point. But Overeem fights completely different these days because he knows how weak his chin is. He got caught by that punch because of that. In many ways it has helped Overeem but in other ways it has hurt him. That shot would have put anyone out but, normally great fighters don't leave themselves that wide open unless they're so timid. Watch the KO again, Overeem would have never been ko'd like that a decade ago with that kind of punch. He was too busy being scared when he got ko'd.

Worst I've ever seen, yes.

Consider that he already got most of his hype before even beating Overeem.
