How did Nunes look so good?

Cyborg left the UFC in order to avoid her. Nunes KO was no fluke. More likely due to the fact Cyborg was a juicer in earlier fights. Cyborg reminds me of the way Wanderlei used to fight. Great when she can overwhelm people with aggressiveness and force, not so great when facing a strong opponent with better technique(s).
Cyborg left The UFC because she was treated horribly.

Bullshit. If she beat Nunes she would have been treated much better. She got pummeled and her stock went down. The UFC is the big leagues.

and so bad against Pena? Pena literally landed 100% of her jabs in Round 2

Peña has proven ground skills and that dissuaded Nunes from going to the ground.

ego - Nunez was sipping the goat talk too much

Guys, fighters have off days. Anyone with eyes could tell Nunes looked off

That is true. But Dana and ufc brass treated her like shit.
Money isn't everything.
It's business. It took Cyborg too long to take a fight in the UFC. Probably because she asked for too much money.

Nunes had a bad night she forgot how to block punches and gassed out if the same nunes who fought those other girls shows up she wrecks pena every time
Cannot be proved and is actually an insult to Nunes. Sometimes fighters have bad camps due to injuries but that wasn't the case with Nunes. She was prepared and she threw everything she had and Pena just took it. Those in the know figured if it came down to grappling that Pena had the advantage.

One of life's mysterys

Many reasons

There is 12 fights worth of tape on Nunes and dozens of pro MMA teams dissecting them all. One of those teams finally put together a game plan to take advantage of Amanda’s weakness

There also the fact that Nunes hasn’t cut down to 135 in 2 years

That Nunes has only fought 45 seconds in a year and a half

That Nunes recently came down with COVID

That Nunes is more focused on her baby and family life

That Nunes didn’t take Peña seriously

I feel like Nunes did to Pena what Cyborg did to Nunes, and that's taking the coming win for granted. Cyborg, while I'm a fan, went in swinging and arrogant instead of fighting measured, and paid for it.

Whether it was less training, lazy training, inflated ego or whatever, Nunes didn't expect Pena to come in and be as tough as she was, and it cost her the match. I think in the rematch, when/if it happens, we'll see a much more prepared Nunes. She might need to change some things up though, because it looks like Pena's camp was training for the best Nunes, and likely will do so again.

Being bigger and opponents allowing you to dictate the fight goes a long ways

Cyborg wrecks her in a rematch and it's now demonstrable as to why.

Why do you think Cyborg would wreck her in a rematch?

I can tell you one thing that is not a mystery anymore, Nunes's heart. The ex champ is a quitter.

Why do you think Cyborg would wreck her in a rematch?

Maybe she would. Cyborg seems to have a gas tank and she certainly is not a quitter. Now that she knows Nunes can actually hurt her, she may fight smarter. If Pena can get Nunes wobbly then it should not be a surprise that Cyborg could as well.

Who knows, that fight will never happen while Dana is in charge.

amanda obviously got lazy, the rematch shes going to destroy Pena. When you're at the top for that long, its hard to stay motivated.

What about the fact that she is a quitter? I had issues with her being a pull out artist before but I never imagined she has no heart. That is a stain that doesn't go away easy, even if she goes on a good run for a while, she still got exposed.

Look at how Nunes was demolishing Pena in the first round and won it 10-9. Pena looked scared as hell. She dropped her twice and controlled the fight on the ground and also got get in a neck crank submission hold, which took a lot of her energy out. She tried to toy with Pena and paid a price for it. It was the same thing as the Zingano or Valentina 1 fight where Nunes destroyed both of them 10-8 in the first round, but they somehow survived the barrage of attacks and Nunes gassed and quit in the Zingano fight while she was able to manage to win the 2nd round against Valentina.

You could see in her speed, movement, hands dropped, on her face that she had left the building after round 1. Nina Nunes has been inflating her ego and she did not train seriously like she did for Cyborg, Holly, Miesha and Ronda. With their kid being their central focus, Pena's intel has been telling her, Nunes was barely in the gym until the final few weeks of the fight.

Nunes gassed and no matter how good one is, once you are gassed, you would look limp and sloppy because there is no energy for movement and power. At 135 lbs, Nunes always had an uphill battle in terms of cardio, if the fight did not finish early. At 145 lbs, she has cardio for days as seen in her Spencer fight.

Also, she has not been training very well and there is a theory that Nina has been domesticating a killer fighter who has known only how to fight since the age of 7.

That is why Nunes is still a big favorite for the rematch, but it is all going to depend on if she can fix her cardio issue and make her power, speed, movement consistent through the fight like she is able to at 145 lbs.

Nunes hasn't fought in 135 for two years. She had Covid late summer. She really underperformed because of cardio not because lack of skill.

And clearly lack of heart when faced with adversity. Not often you see someone get exposed as a quitter like that. She wasn't even in danger of getting seriously hurt or anything.

And great when you still have chin!

Rematch would be awesome
