How does Jon Jones vs prime Anderson Silva play out?

Anderson never engaged with Lietes or Maia in their fights. He ran like his life depended on it in both fights.

It's like you didn't even watch the fights. Anderson is the reason him and GSP never fought. He ran like a scared kid against Maia, and Dana pulled the fight against GSP saying Anderson didn't deserve it.

Tell me again how 'stopping' take downs from the 2 worst TD guys in the UFC makes Anderson some kind of TD god, so I can have a laugh at how truly stupid you are.

you’re a clueless buffoon

Both Maia n leites were literally flopping everytime they would get close to Anderson.

Still Maia, with his “shitty” td%, was able to td n dominated many other fighters (some of them gsp top wins) with good tdd.

The only guys he couldn’t take down were elite wrestlers with very good td.

so you can ignore the actual evidence all you want, it just makes you look like a moron.

say what you want but that is just not true.

Fun fact. Gsp beat the breaks of bisping and bisping beat the shit out of Anderson.

he beat 40 year old Silva coming back from a career ending injury.... great!

he was never able to get to Silva when he was in his prime cause he would always lose in big fights.

but it’s pointless doing all this mmath. That’s for ppl with low iq who don’t understand the sport.

the reality is gsp had many opportunities to move up n challenge Silva n he turned them down.

he ducked him plain and simple

Based on what? Just cause he prefers stand up, doesn’t mean he fears the ground.

n there’s no reason to fear anything from gsp on the ground considering he would take guys down over n over n was never able to finish them.

You're just another GSP hater. I have respect for both fighters.

Regarding Anderson's fear of the ground, go watch his eyes when anyone tried to lock in any type of leg based sub, see that adrenaline kick, if you knew anything about fighting or had stepped in the ring or cage at any level, you can see the look.

Prior to his 'fights' against Leites and Maia, Anderson had a career TDD % of just over 50.

Equating GSPs ability to take guys to the ground, to Maia and Leites, shows me how clueless you truly are.

You’re missing the forest for trees

gsp td% was boosted by facing one dimensional strikers with truly horrible tdd like condit n hardy.

maia n leites might have low td%, but that’s cause they constantly spam td until they get it.

Maia himself was able to pretty much take any fighter down. Only those with very good tdd were able to shut him down n Anderson was one of those fighters who shut him down.

Now it’s not only about maia.

Vs good wrestlers Anderson would usually do much better after 1st round

Hendo was 0/2 on his td after 1st round

Chael was 0/3

weidman 0/1

the only fight he didn’t do too well is 1st Chael fight where Anderson was injured n Chael t/e ratio was through the roof

2nd Chael fight is way more representative how gsp fight would go.

gsp might get a td or 2 early, but as the fight progresses Anderson would stuff his td n then they are in Anderson world. He would pick him apart standing

So on one hand, you want to shit on GSP for taking guys like Condit down, on the other hand you want to give Maia credit for taking Condit down and dominating him on the ground?

Following your own 'wisdom' Anderson's TDD was only bolstered by facing 1 dimensional grapplers like, Maia and Leites, with truly horrible striking. They literally his bolsterd his career average TDD by 13% over the course of 2 fights.

On top of that, GSP was able to take everyone down. He never struggled taking down wrestlers. Before he ever even fought Hardy and Condit, he had an 83% career TD stat. And that was against guys like: Hughes, Koscheck, Fitch, Penn etc etc.

If they'd fought when they were both at their peak, say 2008~2010 Anderson would have had a TDD % in the mid 50% range, and GSP would have had a TD % in the mid 80% range. Anderson got taken down 3x, and mounted none the less, by Travis fucking Lutter, a guy with a career TD % of 24%.

Yet somehow, Anderson would have stopped a guy with possibly the best TD in MMA history and one of the best top games in MMA history.

Just stop.

You can’t discredit Anderson tdd% n claim Maia sucks

but then give full credit to gsp for his td% vs his opponents.

maia was able to td all those guys n still wasn’t able to td Anderson

So either Anderson tdd succks, maia td sucks, but then gsp td is overrated

or Anderson tdd is good, maia td is good n gsp td is not overrated

Can’t have it both ways.

Also if you wanna discredit Anderson for the lutter fight (where he had surgeries on his knees before the fight n still won)...what you gotta say for gsp vs Serra fight?

if 5’5 journeyman lw made him tap to strikes, could you imagine what would best striker in mma history do to him?

GSP was able to take a younger, better version of Fitch down at will. 7/9 on TDs. 5 years later, Maia had to Spam 17 TD attempts to get Fitch down 7 times.

Stop. You're emabarrassing yourself talking about Maia VS GSP, and trying to compare their ability to TD their opponents.

Oh, and let's talk about Chonan and Takase if we want to go down that route. Anderson had more losses before he ever made it to the UFC, than GSP had in his whole career.

N yet that same Maia who spammed 17 td n took elite wrestler like Fitch (one of gsp top wins) 7 times, couldn’t take Anderson once in 13 tries...

I don’t know how good is your math but

7/17 > 0/13

now I get you’re a gsp nuthugger n that’s why you’re prone to cherrypicking, but you can’t be taken seriously when you do that.

Also Anderson wasn’t privileged like gsp to be surrounded by a good team from very beginning in his career, that’s why he suffered few losses here n there, but once he got a good team behind him he was much better

that’s why he stated his ufc career 16-0, while gsp was tapping to strikes vs 5’5 lw with no ko wins
