I just saw Sicario for the first time.

Good movie. I like movies that keep it real. The "good guys" were a government task force fighting against the drug trade in Mexico but they have to resort to some bad actions including
eliminating the competition so there is only one distributor (that the US can better control)

In any case, another aspect of this movie I liked was that it had absolutely none of the unrealistic feminist shit. Kate (played by Emily Blunt) was the only female in the task force. She had difficulty hanging with the ol' boys... At one point of the movie, she tried to run up on Josh Brolin's character, he threw her on her ass... John Berthal's character, threw her on her ass... Benicio Del Toro's character, the same. I didn't particularly enjoy them beating up a chick, it was just a breath of fresh air from the usual 125 pound girl beats up 10 Brock Lesnars, shoots 25 trained Marines... twirls her gun then says "I grew up with 10 brothers."

One was able to feel a sense of fear in the scenes, sympathize with the main character, because she was human and not a trope.

What other action movies are there with a female protaganist that isn't boringly overpowered?

I'd say:

1. Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series. She was able to fight off guys but in a realistic way, it wasn't with much ease.

2. Charlize Theron in Atomic blonde... kinda. She was a highly trained operative who fought off a bunch of henchmen, but she got her ass kicked in the process. It wasn't on some Charlie's Angels, Jumanji (reboot) somersaulting through the air, type crap.

What are some others?

Good movie my only beef is that Emily Blunt's character was too obviously an "audience surrogate" in reality she wouldn't have been there if she kept acting how she did in the movie as she was a major liability to the success of the operation. She was there to emote for the audience. Effective, but predictable in that sense.

Sicario doesn’t even make sense though

If they were so certain that their prisoner transport was going to get ambushed so that they sent in Deltas, why not just ride a helicopter

To get to the big boss’s house, all Benicio Del Toro needs to be is in Mexico. You’re telling me there’s no easier way to get into Mexico than firefighting through a drug tunnel?

Benicio Del Toro stands with crotch in detainee's face... Camera pans to drain... imagination runs wild.

It's a good film, i liked the cinematography and action scenes.

I'd take Arrival and Prisoners over it from Villenueve though.

But I'm still trying to figure out what happened in that interrogation room.
<WhatIsThis>

The script had him just beat him up but I took the zoom on the drain is that you are in a pretty fucked up situation if the interrogation room has a drain. What happens in there is standard ops and not someone going overboard.

Youtube comments think it was rape happening there

(Due to sounds that are heard there is some implication to it)

About female characters winters bone is very good film with j law

Great movie. So much better than all the over the top crap with exaggerated fight scenes that border on science fiction.

Sicario was great. It's the last movie that really made me feel a true sense of danger and dread. OP listed off a ton of great points. It really was a breath of fresh air in modern Hollywood. But I'm still trying to figure out what happened in that interrogation room.

I just can't imagine it being a rape scene with Josh Brolin watching, or worse, yanking one out on the sidelines.

But can you imagine it being rape scene

With brolin participating?

Basically "I liked this film because the women got beaten up"?

Honestly I don't think Atomic Blonde is a good comparison at all, that film is clearly more larger than life, its the equivalent of John Wick killing 800 people or James Bond jumping off of a building, maybe less fantastical than Marvel but certainly not aiming for total realism.

Its believable up to a point in that she was being used to get another agencies approval and to draw out the hitman but by the time you get to the end its pushing things that she wouldnt have been cut out of the operation.

The whole thing does feel a bit slight to me in terms of drama as well, basically Blunt finds out she's working for compromised bastards and then suddenly Del Toro's revenge mission takes center stage.

It’s another propaganda film made by the gov, lots of violence porn and dumb shit that looks cool

John Wick 3, female character played by Halle Berry uses BJJ and guns and attack dogs to win against men, not drops them with overhands.
