Well, this would be biggest fight in central Europe and I am from this region so partially yes.

Jan got the absolute fuck kicked out of him, and the fact that a judge saw him winning via control and no damage just means that one judge didn't read the updated fucking scoring criteria a year or four ago. You don't win a fight by holding a body triangle and taking more damage from your opponent that you dish out while in a dominant position. If the fight went to a 4th round, Jan was going to literally die, he couldn't stand at the end of the fight. That tells you who won.

Then you must rewatch the fight. 1st round was undeniably Jan, no discussion. 2nd was even but Jan was gassed and Alex stole the round with few last action when he had Jan in trouble. Everyone just remembers this moment. 3rd is really funny because you are saying that Jan only had control and no damage but truth is Jan had more powerful and clean shots + takedown at the end and 1 minute of control. Poatan had few more but less damaging shots. So by your logic Jan won. And since when level of exhaustion is scoring criteria?
I really think that they shouldn't do fight at elevation because it really doesn't sit well with fighters. Especially old like Jan.
