I think the thinking was that Whittaker would have wrestled him.

But Whittaker doesn't have the best wrestling. He's got good TDD from a traditional wrestlers single or double leg, but his offensive takedowns aren't that great.. and he's not particularly good at doing much on top when he does land a takedown.

Whittaker needs to go back to the drawing board and start fighting with more fight ending intentions. He's become a decision machine and that led to a ton of footage to study, which is exactly how DDP beat him. There's like hours of stand up exchanges for him to study and they found a weakness.

Literally, when he got wobbled by Duplessis, Whittaker didn't even have the wherewithal to try to clinch with him. Instead he backed up in a straight line, trying to cover up, which is basically the worst thing anyone can do when they are wobbled.

Whittaker always carries low hands, and leads with his face. He would've got clipped, and clipped early, by Pereira IMO.

I dont think anyone in the MW has a chance vs Alex but Izzy.
