Inspired by this thread obviously.

So I thought lets see what are the best albums that was released that year.

So I compiled the ones I think are the best of 1987.

The album titles are clickable below.

Def Leppard - Hysteria

George Michael - Faith

Eric B. & Rakim - Paid in Full

Bruce Springsteen - Tunnel of Love

Prince - Sign 'O' the Times

Emmylou Harris / Dolly Parton / Linda Ronstadt - Trio

Sonic Youth - Sister

Depeche Mode - Music for the Masses

Michael Jackson - Bad

R.E.M - Document

Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction

Public Enemy - Yo! Bum Rush the Show

Sting - Nothing Like the Sun

Anthrax - Among the Living

The Cure Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me

Pet Shop Boys - Actually

U2 - The Joshua Tree

Whitney Houston - Whitney

Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Uplift Mofo Party Plan

Tom Waits - Franks Wild Years

Hysteria, Faith and Appetite.

Probably Bad as well but Nothing Like the Sun has to be Sting's best and most consistent solo work and Actually by the PSB is pretty consistently good stuff...has four songs I would have put on an iPod playlist anyway and that's a fine achievement for one album.

Thank you for responding.

I was expecting a list of one thousand nine hundred and eighty seven albums.

You gotta put for sure:
Michael Jackson
Guns n Roses

I added:
Def Leppard
RHCP

Appetite For Destruction
Paid In Full
Hysteria
Bad

Great list, tons of awesome music. I agree with the sentiment that AFD and Bad are locks, the other two are your call!

Appetite is number 1, I think hysteria is number 2. Probably Bad is 3rd and I haven't listened to enough of the others to pick a 4th.

Glad to see Def Leppard getting some respect in here. That album was awesome.

I am basically in line with the votes up there, but I'm bewildered that Sonic Youth got only 2 votes as of now.
....:(:(

What a year for music.

Jesus and Mary Chain - Darklands
Love and Rockets - Earth, Sun, Moon
Suicidal Tendencies - Join the Army
The Cult - Electric
The Grateful Dead - Touch of Grey

Prince. Sign the Times
GnR. Appetite
MJ. Bad
Pet Shop Boys. Actually
Tough choices though

Hard leaving out Leppard and Depeche Mode.

lol at massive fail. I'll bet Whitesnake would only get one vote, I wonder who.

Hey, man. Whitesnake's self-titled album peaked at #2 in 1987 and went multi-platinum. It was a bigger hit than Among the Living, and I say this as a die-hard Anthrax fan.

George Michael - Faith
Sonic Youth - Sister
Prince - Sign o' the Times
MJ - Bad
