How does it play out?

Does stipe have the jab and footwork to keep cain away and does cain have the chin and durabilty to withstand stipes output and power.

I think Stipe is over-rated, and I don't like Cain either. But I think Stipe has the style to beat Cain.

PRIME AND PRIME... Both lost to Junior Dos Santos.

I'll take Cain all day. Look what Cormier does to Stipe(yes, Stipe won the last one but a took a damn beating up to that point) mixing in his wrestling and striking. Cain isn't a very good striker overall but he pressures wrestles more so than even Cormier does. I think he would more less grind out a win against Stipe more times than not. Won't be exciting, but it would be effective.

Cain overwhelms him by mixing it up, pressuring Stipe and wall work. Not a pretty fight but it'd be brutal as it goes on

Cain had the biggest upside of anyone in the UFC, ever.

It's just too bad we only saw it a few times before his body quit.

Which makes ranking GOATS so difficult (or useless, or stupid, or fun, depending on the point of view); if a guy was unbeatable for 3 years (not saying Cain was, getting theoretical now) then his career collapsed, is he higher or lower on a GOAT list than a guy who was #2 for a dozen years?

Tough call. Comes down to 2 questions for me:
1. Can Stipe knockout prime Cain?
2. Can Stipe keep Cain off him?

1. Yes but I don't think he'd get the chance
Because
2. No I think Cain can pressure and put the gas to Stipe.

Stipe is a good boxer and a good wrestler but he doesn't mix up both too well. Cain is very, very good at mixing up his striking and wrestling and I believe he'd just wear out Stipe eventually.

Stipe is not that great at all... It is just that the HW division is so crap at the moment... I would say Cain edge him but he only beat Dos Santos... But Still I would have bet on Cain

Prime Cain has a loss in which he was knocked out in 1 minute. A submission loss where he didn’t get back his win. He also only fought the same guys.

Prime Stipe beat everyone he faced and got the win back against DC and JDS. He beat a variety of opponents with different styles.
He beat a striker(Reem), Ko artist(Francis), BJJ specialist(Werdum) and wrestler(DC). Also Hunt and Arlovksi.

Cain only beat Silva and JDS and lost to Werdum. So one only good win, one irrelevant win and one big loss where he failed to prove himself against a top fighter.

Stipe crushes him.

Stipe is a good enough wrestler, and has a good enough gas tank, to negate Cain’s biggest assets. Cain isn’t going to beat Stipe if the fight is mostly standing. Stipe wins 7/10 IMO.

The cain that fought travis browne could have beat anyone in the world that njght including stipe.

It’s a toss up but I’d say Cain has slightly better striking and seemed a tad quicker than Stipe.

I think Stipe takes it. Much better hands than Cain.
