Alright, some complainers have suggested that I make my own thread for Ravens news, so I will oblige them.
Since our Superbowl win in 2012, Ravens Fam, we have been let down by our defense. Yes, Joe Flacco hasn't always played the best, but I've watched every game closely and we are in position to win almost every single game and more often than not, the offense does enough to get the job done. However, it is our DEFENSE that has let us down.
It is the DEFENSE that has given up game losing drives to the Patriots in the 2014 playoffs and again last year against the evil, hated Steelers to knock us out of the playoffs when we should have won both games. In both cases, our top cornerback, Jimmy Smith, was out due to injury which cost us these games and many others over the past few regular seasons.
Flacco might not be the best in the league, but he's good enough to get playoff wins if the defense doesn't give up games.
In order to correct this.... Ozzie Newsome has taken us back to our roots, drafting and trading to make our defense elite again to bring us back to the days of glory:
We drafted (notables only):
1. Marlon Humphrey (CB) - top CB prospect
2. Tyus Bowser (OLB) - top LB that dropped spots due to injury, maybe most dynamic player in the draft
3. Chris Wormley (DT) - a hardnosed, mature player from Michigan that will line up with Brandon Williams and Michael Pierce for years to come.
4. Tim Williams (OLB) -probably THE STEAL of the draft for any team considering his elite pass-rushing skills. He dropped due to character issues, but there will be no such problems under the great leadership of one T-Sizzle.
7. Chuck Clark (S) - I left him out originally bc I hadn't heard news from him, but Eric DeCosta's recent interview highlighted him not only as a special teams player and a character guy (which is what they drafted him for as he was captain at VT), but also as a starting safety down the road.
And we acquired:
Tony Jefferson - one of the elite safeties in the game
Brandon Carr - an extremely durable starting CB
ALL OF THOSE ARE JUST ON DEFENSE!!!
MAKE THE DEFENSE GREAT AGAIN!!!
We've added a new receiver in Jeremy Maclin and a new pass-catching back in Danny Woodhead. Plus, other undrafted rookies from last year's class and this year's class are looking to make a name for themselves in Keenan Reynolds and Quincy Adeboyejo.
Our o-line has been decimated by injury, but it is my contention that as long as Flacco and Jimmy Smith stay healthy, nothing can stop the Ravens this year. We are on our way to our 3rd Superbowl!!!
RAVENS FLOCK!! LET'S GO!!
