Should Jon Jones vacate the belt or should the UFC strip him from having the HW title?

Tom should just not fight until this Jones vs Stipe farce is over

When both of those divas retire after then UFC just make Tom the actual champ instead of interm)

Or fight the winner worst case scenario..

Tom is in a great position...IMHO

It's pretty annoying how some guys will cling on that belt instead of vacating when they know full well they will be out for years. He will probably just have to be stripped after a year

I think when he is ready to fight, Jon gets either the fight with Stipe (5 round nontitle bout only), or if he wants, a title unification with Tom. No third option.

Not good to put the title on ice this long, then have to wait through the Stipe bout for the next real title bout. Bad management by the UFC.

Special treatment? ..u mean like other champions who did the same thing...some in his own Division?

Lol...the salt life for real...

We've just experienced a string of fighters giving up their titles, having them stripped or forcing to fight when they're not ready under threat of having them stripped. This entire thread is full of people talking about them. Open your eyes and pull your head out of your ass.

IMO Jon should commit to fighting Aspinall when he heals up or vacate the belt.

The right thing to do is strip Jones of the belt and make Stipe fight Aspinall for the undisputed HW champ.

Stipe has been inactive and getting old, could be cooked by now. So there's no point for Stipe vs. Jones to happen if he easily gets beaten by Aspinall.

If Stipe comes out and destroys Aspinall, then Stipe vs. Jones makes sense and absolutely would be the fight to make when he comes back.

There was no pressure on Jiri or Hill both LHW and ..they chose to vacate...not once was stripping being talked about by anyone with control of the situation...

Dont be dumb please ..

Cain Velasquez was injured for a long time and kept his title...

Dont let the Jones hate blind you

Jones fans are all special needs, there's no amount of factual evidence that can get through to them.

If Jon Jones is honorable enough, he would have vacated the title by now. Instead of holding up the division.

Ideally speaking I'd like him to vacate the title. And have Stipe and Aspinall fight for the official belt and than Jones can fight the winner when he comes back.

But none of this is going to happen unfortunately. lol
There's no money to be made with a Stipe/Aspinall fight for the HW belt

There's plenty of money to be made with the best ever against the best ever at HW for the HW belt. Stipe isn't going to fight much longer, in fact this is probably his last fight.

There is only one chance to make that fight happen.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic about no pressure.

Hill said Jiri and himself were both pressured with the promise if they vacate to let the division move on they'll get another title shot down the line.

Jones is out. Aspinall doesn't want to fight the top contender (Gane)... Time to make Gane vs Almeida for the Interim Interim Belt...
I mean if Aspinall already wants to act like a diva after winning an interim belt then he's not exactly a champion of champions, is he?

Im not gunna believe a word Hill says...the guy who got leapfrogged by Alex...who Alex may or may not fight now..

Fighters lie..

Show me Jiri stating this...or Dana ...anyone else but Hill he's just trying to stake his claim but saying it was "heavily suggested" what proof other then his words

Learn how to read.

Jon Jones is about as legit a HW champ as GSP was a middleweight champ. its a joke for dudes to cherry pick easy fights for a belt knowing they will likely be inactive.
Gane was no "Cherry Pick" for Jones. This forum was full - fucking full - of posters explaining why Jones had NOTHING for Gane. Jones wins and suddenly Gane is a bum. SMH...

Moving on to the topic at hand.. The honorable thing for Jones to do would be to vacate. But..we're talking about Jon Jones here and that guy is unlikely to vacate anything except his own vehicle when the cops are coming.

Ah I remember those good old days when Gane wasn't considered a bum on Sherdog

if he was a true samurai martial artist, he'd vacate. just like jiri did, just like jamahal hill did, etc. this is so obviously UFC/Jones wanting to project added legacy onto him by giving him the easiest possible, "legit" title matchup, retirement match, so that ESPN and bokamoto can keep sucking them off some more.

HW is always a fucking shit show. No champ can hold the title and defend it enough without some fuckery. Considering Jones never has called out injured, I think he's earned it.

That sounds like a UFC problem not Jon Jones's..

And there's plenty of HW fights to make in the mean time ...

like who? Aspinall has beaten a bunch of the contenders already. Blaydes would be a good rematch but he's already lost to the guy Aspinall just KO'd. everyone is bitching about Jailton's win so he's out. who is he going to fight? Gane? on a 1 fight win streak after losing 2 title shots already? this is what i mean when the division is too thin for stalling to be allowed. it's not just UFC's problem, it's the fans problem too. we want to see good fights and Jon Jones vs Stipe is not worth the wait.
