Recently there seems to be a bunch of mma fighters who can't add 2 + 2 but think they are expert business men all of a sudden. As if any of them know how to read internal financial statements or be able to calculate what the owners are actually taking home at the end of the day.

It probably stems from athletes in other sports being being paid ridiculous amounts of money which results in a wide spread spoiled mentality many athletes suffer from. But that doesn't make mma fighters underpaid. As long as they have insurance offered and other necessities such as medical bills paid after fights then they shouldn't complain.

I'm far from a UFC shill and I personally have a low opinion on some of the other shady things they did in the past but truth is everyone essentially works for the lowest amount they are willing to accept, mma fighters being no different. Most are lucky to be making what they make and if they are sacrificing more pay for UFC spot light then they are proving Dana's comments to be correct about how this is a opportunity not a career. Most "careers" are much longer than an athletes fight years.

A lot of the 16 year olds here may not like this post but at the end of the day mma fighters are the ones who made the choice to go into this sport and shouldn't complain about it as it was their decision as it comes with many luxuries and can actually be classified as a luxury lifestyle itself. Potential for a great reward comes with great risk. Semi-retired/retired mma fighters complaining is like a failed college jock still being salty for not making it when he's in his 40s and working at a fast food joint.

Other sports (football, baseball, basketball etc..) have unions. You need group representation to negotiate fair deals. If fighters don't take their careers seriously and are just working for other opportunities they won't take their careers seriously. Look at PVZ who is an obvious example. Another would be Woodley. He did nothing against Usman and against Burns he was clapping his hands trying to psyche himself up to fight. He TMZ's, raps, wants to act. Good for him I hope he makes money but his fighting reflects lake of focus on his fighting career. The product will get watered down which is happening now. Guys are retiring and leaving and many fighters aren't fighting that much (Masvidal being one example). Dana and his buddies might have to tighten the belt and have 35 ferrari's instead of 40 and 8 houses instead of 11.
