I was going through a stressful time a while back and the song "take it easy" by the eagles came on.

I'd heard the song before and never gave it a second thought, but this one line just stood out right then.

"We may lose, and we may win
Though we will never be here again"

It just made me realize that I was stressing so much trying to win that I was forgetting to enjoy the journey.

So now I think of that lyric when I'm feeling overwhelmed and it helps me take a timeout and breathe.

What song lyric came on just at the right time for you?

Tears for Fears - Everybody wants to rule the world

Hit me pretty good when I realized I was beginning my adventure through midlife crisis.

Appreciated the song even more when I realized I am the same age as when my old man was jamming out to the same song when I was chilling in the back seat as a kid.

Now I am starting to understand what he must have been going through at that time in life, when it was just a song on the radio to me.

In tough times I require powerful messages to pull me from the darkness…..

“So yo girlfriend drives a Honda,
Playin´ workout tapes by Fonda,
But Fonda aint got a motor in the back o´ her Honda.
My anaconda don´t want want none,
Unless you got buns, hun”

The Mentors' Sandwich of Love

It's the sandwich of love, one below and one above
In the sandwich of love, crustin' and grossin'

She hasn't been laid in days
Now she's covered in mayonnaise
She's a woman with no soul
She's got a guy in every hole
This is fun and sweet
We're the buns and she's the meat

Ludacris 'Move bitch get out the way'

Heard it in junior high and I think it installed in me my driving habits. I don't think my life would be the the same if I didn't hear that line.

Say fuck the world

If I only could I'd set the world on fire
Fuck 'em all
Fuck 'em all
Fuck Oprah
Fuck opera
Fuck a soap opera

Mellencamp: "hold on to sixteen, as long as you can"

I remember hearing it when I was 17 and thinking, 'well, fuck..."

Loud an Heavy by Cody Jinks. Most underrated country singer songwriter criminal how he's not a huge star.

It all rolls into one
And nothing comes for free
There's nothing you can hold
For very long

from "Stella Blue"

Reminds me to just let go, because nothing gold can stay.

My father passed away unexpectedly January 8th at his home. After the coroner had left from picking up his body, driving on my way home I was struggling how to figure out how to break it to my kids and grandkids, and Mike And The Mechanics "The Living Years" came on the radio.

I literally had to pull over.

I wasn't there that morning
When my Father passed away
I didn't get to tell him
All the things I had to say

The entire outro to "When you grow up, your heart died" by GUNSHIP. It hits hard.
