I am still stunned , i have tried everything else except surgery ( which by the way some doctors said i needed ).
I have been doing strenght training my whole life but this routine is the only one that helped.

One arm rows with 66 pounds for 6 sets each arm.

Pull ups with 52 pounds between my legs 4 sets ( i filled a bag with bricks and weighed it )

Chin ups with 52 pounds between my legs for 4 sets.

Standing curls with 66 pounds for 6 sets.

Dips with 66 pounds for 8 sets.

Plus i do lateral raises but i don't think that had anything to do with it because it didn't have anything to do with my lower back muscles.

That's it. You can split this workout into two separate days.

Deadlifts, ironically, helped me with my lower back herniated discs. I only go beltless when I'm doing light work though(Anything bellow 275 lbs), the rest of the time I'm belted when doing anything heavy that can put my back out of commission.

My specialist told me I would never lift weights again, when I had a follow up with him 6 months after they gave me the "green light" to go back to work and be normal...He was surprised by how in shape and flexible I was. Told him I was feeling like shit the first month until I started deadlifting again. He wasn't happy to hear that I was deadlifting, but I told him his way was making me weak and fragile in the lower back.

I told him I know my body better than he does...So fuck him.

Congrates Bro! Maybe there was muscle weakness causing back issues. I used to have lower back issues occasionally... IE - Tweaking my lower back. Since I started deadlifting years ago, it's never returned. Is it related? Who knows?

Anyway, congrates again and be careful. Your back is one area not to fuck with too much.

Strange how you tried anything but physical rehab (strength training). That's standard prescription for most types of back pain here. Didn't your doctor recommend you a physical therapist?

Glad it workout out, however your specific routine is likely not applicable to everyone. Just a heads up. But keep doing what youre doing!

About 5 years ago a co worker was complaining about her lower back. She'd done physio, chiro all that shit... I mentioned to her that she could try to deadlift 5x5 once a week. She was going to the gym for other things, but i told her to deadlift at least once a week when you're there. she started with the bar, got up to 125 5x5 adding 5 pounds every week. The back pain resolved quite quickly since she was also incorporating stretches. She stopped and has been having issues again. She was in her early 60's at the time.

Absolutely , but there was no heavier weight training or gym like training , like every exercise could be done by an 70 year old.

Probably complete bro science here, but I’m wondering if the weighted dips and chins maybe are the main contributor here, since they sort of stretch your lower back with the weight hanging between your legs?

Disc herniations usually come from structural imbalances causing too much torque on your spine. When you align it properly through correct exercises you mitigate that issue. It could very well be that you were already recovering, your body became desensitized to it, or you did certain movements that strengthened your spine in a better position.

Doctors in general dont know shit about recovery, biomechanis or anything related to exercise which is really strange.
MY visit to a neurosurgeon was 5 fucking minutes and i paid 70 euros for some stupid advice realing my neck disc hernia.
After that i said FUCK DOCTORS and went to a McGill master clincian. Never looked back. Opened some new ways of thingking about training, rehab and prevention.
Happy for u!

I was told by a phyical therapist, who is also big on fitness and lifting heavy, to go back to lifting. His motto was "Strong back won't crack."

Mentioned that by doing what the doctor ordered I was remaining weak in my core and especially my back. With a strong core and back...My spine will stay healthy because of my musculature keeping everything where it's supposed to be.

Made sense to me, not even a week after starting my training over again I felt like I had never fucked my lower back.

Every injury has a cause which has to be fixed.
If you find it and correct it then its smooth sailing. Bunch of people when they fuck up their back or neck dont know what to do except go to the doctors or physios (in my country they are awful as well), and get massages and pain pills and dont do nothing physical for months which makes way worse.

Find the cause, remove it,start light stabilization and do spine hygiene in the morning when the spine is at its weakes and in couple of weeks your back will be fine.
