Law Substitute teacher KO's student for using racial slur

I'm never in support of using violence as a response to words, but the video looks like the kid was throwing punches first.

The things I've been hearing about what's going in schools, not from hysterical boomers but a wide range of people who work in schools, in addition to my recent experiences working with younger folks have me fairly concerned about what's going on with the youth of today and where this ends. It's something society as a whole needs to start taking more seriously because it's going to be a major problem when these kids get a little older. Head over to the teachers subreddit and you'll see this echoed over and over again. People who have been teaching for decades quitting because they've never seen behavior this bad.
In the posts prior to yours it was stated as a matter of fact that the kid instigated the fight, so I was directing your attention to the apparent lack of doubt on that score.

About the second paragraph, there are other causes but I mostly blame segregation of schools along the lines of academic performance and economic status. Study after study has shown all students perform better when in a mixed environment.

Weird…the liberal moms I see let their kids behave however they want, with almost no discipline.

Active roles? Being there and being an idiot isn’t being a parent.

Like I said, sorry you can't think beyond such simple black and white terms. There are garbage parents of all political ideologies, and if you really understood the issue, you would know it has nothing to do with that. Its the fact that smartphones are designed to be as stimulating and addicting as possible, and society at large thinks nothing of giving children unrestricted access to them.

Here's a device that is more advanced and powerful than anything humans have had access to for virtually all of human history. They're specifically designed to be as addictive as possible, and use advanced artificial intelligence to capture your attention, regardless of what interests you. You can see the worst of humanity in high definition, the most depraved acts of sex that most people would never engage in, the most horrific violence one can imagine, and the thoughts of all sorts of absolutely insane, terrible, or just plain moronic people in seconds. And what do we do with that technology? Give it to every child in America.

Seriously, talk to some teachers about this. Kids have always had a short attention span, but its gotten orders of magnitude worse, and that is a direct result of the constant stimulation you get from staring at smartphone for hours on end.

Seems extreme over words; but if you don’t parent your children then don’t be concerned how society disciplines them.
- Funny. We used to have the same sayin here.

I know if i ever did that to a teacher here, i would get beat by my dad, and after that become a target to the guys from the hood for disrespecting a teacher.

I guy that used to study with me, he was really smart, 4 years old that the redt of the class, he did a porn cartoon with a older female teacher here. Dude got throw out of school.

But today is diferent, as i said before. I hate working with kids or teens. I wasnt raised like that, now people see young kids curse and think its funny. I would've be made to eat soap, if i ever did that.

Lil cholo consider himself lucky, teachers will soon be allowed to carry gun, he'll knee cap the next fool
POS Punks Know they are protected at school... in the real world not so much.

I'm still not sure what you're getting at? Obviously no one knows what happened before the video started, but from what I can see it looks like the kid was the first one to throw a punch. Maybe the teacher started it, maybe the student did, who knows - I'm not really concerned with the specifics of this particular incidence. What I was getting at in my second paragraph is something huge numbers of teachers are talking about, which is that this is now a regular occurrence now in schools. I grew up in a fairly poor area, and my high school had plenty of violence - it was rare to go more than a few days without a fight, and these weren't just boys boxing to settle a beef, I'm talking about jump stomping on a kids head kind of violence. Despite that, I don't think I ever once heard of a kid assaulting a teacher - that was a whole other line that was virtually never crossed, and now it seems incredibly common.

As for the cause, I'm convinced its giving kids unsupervised access to smart phones. Have schools not always been separated based on economic status? That's nothing new, and perhaps I'm not in tune enough with whats going on in regards to academic performance, but I don't think its such a prevalent phenomena that you could blame what's happening on that.

Mexicans in the hood have a pass to use the N word. Just listen to Cypress Hill. Who initiated the fight? That matters more than the N word.

Way to display no rational thought process and reacting strictly with emotions and violence....

Putting hands on the kid to any degree was likely always going to lead to legal trouble and likely a ride to the police station so might as well knock that little fucker out. In for a penny...

I don't think it's justified beating up a much smaller minor over a slur, but if the kid came at him or initiated a physical confrontation I have zero issue with this. Hard to tell from that short video.

I don’t see an issue here. The kid said a mean and hurtful word that only certain people can say- he’s not one of them.

And then he automatically acted with pure emotion.......With no rational thinking and could have easily subdued him without punching him but that doesn't make for good World Star vids
