Chris only made 24/24 against Anderson the first time, but during his title reign he was making 400-500k a fight plus PPV. Ever since losing the title Chris has supposedly made 325k per fight flat win or lose. Chris has 3 kids, a wife, probably has a dog too. This is the best money he can make in this stage of his life. He knows this and will continue to milk it as long as the UFC allows him to. The UFC loves Weidman just like they loved Alvey.

Ofc, why shouldn’t he be makinng millions every year? He loves to train, to fight and would surely spend that time in the gym anyway in his own free time, but even gets paid millions to do it? He’d be dumb to stop now. It’s not like he’s gonna fight the top guys anymore, so less risk to get KO’ed and gets a nice reward for 15 min what other people don’t even make their whole lives.

He definately deserves every penny he can get from the UFC considering his legacy.

Anyone in this bussiness should get the most money out of it that they can, and Chris has build this and earned it. On another node he genuinely is here to succeed in his mind, but his body and chin are just too far over the hill. There were numerous times where he could've quit in his last fight as his leg was getting destroyed, but he showed the dog, stayed in there and ended the fight trying to win and go forward. He doesn't lack any conviction or intention, and isn't there just to take his pay, even if he has no real chance.

Probably.

It's a shame, though. I don't think there are that many winnable match-ups for him at 185 and even fewer where he should actually be favored at this stage.

I expect the UFC to match him with Bo Nickal when they want to add some recognizable names to Nickal's resume
They will not pay him 300+ k and give him some bums he will easily beat

The reason he was paid low in the title fight is he was offered a new contract but declined, preferring to gamble on himself and be able to negotiate as the guy who beat Anderson Silva. That gamble obviously paid off.
