Some would say I geek out in the Star Wars universe... until Matrix discussions go twice as deep.

Update: August 24, 2021

The Matrix 4 Official Title is THE MATRIX: RESURRECTIONS; Footage Description from CinemaCon Revealed

Neo and Trinity reunite in the first footage from The Matrix 4, which just debuted at CinemaCon tonight. Lana Wachowski is returning to direct the fourth entry in the extremely popular franchise without her sister and former directing partner, Lilly. In addition to Wachowski, some major stars are reprising their iconic roles from the original trilogy, including Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, and Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe. A slew of fresh faces are slated to join them in as yet undisclosed roles, including Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff, Priyanka Chopra, Christina Ricci, and Jessica Henwick. Little is known about the film, including the plot, but that hasn't made The Matrix 4 any less anticipated.

From stars like Henwick touting The Matrix 4's ability to change the industry like the original trilogy did to others teasing their intense physical training regimens, the upcoming blockbuster seems poised to be one of the biggest releases of the winter. Still, many questions remain, including just how Neo and Trinity will return after their deaths at the end of the third film, The Matrix Revolutions. Similarly, many wonder about the state of the post-apocalyptic world that was left in a fragile truce between man and machines. Now, though, audiences may have their first hint as to what's in store for the upcoming film.

The first footage, played during the Warner Bros. panel at CinemaCon, shows Reeves' Neo walking out of a mirror. He goes on to meet Trinity in a store who sees him and smiles at the sight of him. Update: Warner Bros. also debuted the first full trailer for the sequel, officially titled The Matrix Resurrections. The new trailer opens in San Francisco, with Neo now going by the name of Thomas and seemingly unaware of who he is. Neil Patrick Harris plays his therapist and a brief scene of Neo as Thomas is shown in a therapy session. Neo says, "I've had dreams that don't seem like dreams. Am I crazy?" before he has flashbacks to events of the original trilogy.

The trailer also expands on the initial footage of Trinity and Neo meeting, but this time, they don't seem to know each other even though they think they do. Trinity asks Neo as Thomas, "Have we met?" The trailer then shifts into montage mode, with Neo observing day-to-day life in the Matrix's version of San Francisco. Finally, Mateen shows up and he looks like a young Morpheus, saying, "Time to fly," before offering Neo a red pill and a blue pill. Then, another young woman with blue hair takes Neo through a mirror, showing him the Matrix.

Another scene sees young Morpheus and Neo fighting before Neo breaks the dojo room with his powers. The trailer also shows that the machine pods are back, as are the Agents, and the franchise's signature action. Trinity can be seen fighting police officers and Agents at one point before the clip ends with Neo pulling his signature move, stopping bullets with his mind, before he redirects an entire missile at a helicopter.

By all accounts, it sounds like The Matrix 4's first trailer is a thrilling ride and it could debut soon. The movie is set to premiere in just under four months and once Warner Bros. premieres their other major fall blockbuster, Dune, they'll likely start heavily promoting the film. It would not be surprising at all to see a trailer for The Matrix Resurrections in front of Dune in theaters, but how many will see either film on the big screen remains to be seen.

I'm thinking the reason they aren't releasing it in the theaters is because the original script writer has finally won some court cases and has the right to take his franchise back. As he says in this interview, the reason Parts 2 and 3 are complete shit is because the people who released it are not the creators of the work and they didn't know what they were doing. Matrix was originally called The Immortals and the real story is only seen in Part 1. Hollywood thugs have destroyed his life, killed his kids, stole his script and blockaded him in the court system until recently. Hear his story here:

I've been very silent about this Matrix 4, judging if there's any red flags.

These are major red flags for me.

Trinity is... alive?
NPH plays a... therapist?

This reeks of 'making another sequel to a loved franchise that hasn't had an entry in the last 18+ years because we need money.'

I can't say I had super high hopes regarding this, but recasting Laurence Fishburne is so fucking dumb.

My only hope for this being good is that it’s been almost 2 decades since Revolutions. So maybe the Waschowskis (sp?) have actually taken their time and written a good script

If it’s good. And if the visuals are good. I’ll watch in theatres.

They didn't write the other scripts. They are failed writers. See the link at post #264

Never heard about that. I stand corrected, for now. But I’m reserving the right to stand by my previous post if you’d also tell that they didn’t write Jupiter Ascending either :)

I love HBO Max, with the subscription.

I don't know about Jupiter Ascending. Thomas Atwell seems very familiar with them after all the years of court battles. He says they have stolen other scripts and that you know what they actually created because it would be a B-rated movie, since their philosophy for making money is to write B-rated movies.

I can't edit my post because of Dub-Yellow... I meant to say Thomas Althouse

That's so weird. I could have sworn some black lady said the same thing. Maybe I'm thinking of a different movie

Edit: Sophia Stewart is her name.
