Economy Trump finally limiting subsidies for farmers.

I'll never understand you weirdos. So Trump did something that's closer to Democrat policy, which is the policy you support, and you're mad about it?
Who is mad? I am actually not even against farm subsidies, as long as it goes towards small independent struggling farmers.

The reason the left / liberals bring up Farm subsidies is to point out the hypocrisy on the right in their stance on welfare, and the GOP's attempts to cut welfare funding while keeping quiet on corporate welfare and farm subsidies.

YES! Take that farmers. Meanwhile, lets funnel another 50 billion into illegal immigrants. That'll really teach... somebody...
Aren't you people for free markets? Why do we spend billions subsidizing meat and dairy to suppress the true market cost of those products? Let the "invisible hand" sort it all out.

That's not hypocrisy. Subsidizing productive Americans' businesses is not the same as giving away money to ubproductive people just for breathing.

free market conservatism 101: "hands off economics taken to the extreme is good for everyone and everything, except for the things that I personally like"

I'd guess construction trades.
Nope. So will food prices soar when trump kicks all the illegals out and farmers have to pay legal Americans a working wage????

If they are productive why do they need to be subsidized. I thought conservatives were all about people providing for themselves. Most people on welfare paid into the system or are still paying into the system; they just fell on hard times or are working min wage jobs. Most programs require a recipient to work X number of hours per week.

If your argument is that Farmers deserve subsidies because they produce food, why shouldn't truckers also get subsidies since most goods in America are transporters by truckers.

And the grocery stores. Cant buy a steak from a farmer.

Is this the new right wing talking point.
“Well these are productive people so they deserve the handout”

By that logic everyone who works 40+ hours a week and needs government assistance falls under the umbrella of “productive people”

Sounds like they want illegals but they aren't there forcing them to innovate rather than hire legals

They want what worked in the past, and to not have to do a big up front cost. But they can't predict how the whole immigration thing will go, or wait around for it to be resolved in their favor. And it will probably be cheaper in the long run if they automate.

Its more like socialism for the rich and crony capitalism for the poor to the point of oligarchy because thats the way it was in the Middle Ages and the way it should remain.

"Subsidies for meat and dairy! Subsidies for walmart! Subsidies for oil! Subsidies for coal!"
"Give money to the poor? LOL FUCK OUT OF HERE YOU BLEEDING HEART LIBERAL!"

The article states 8mil illegals working and 1.5mil in agriculture. Divided equally there would be 2mil in each labor force listed. Now to me that means there's more in at least one of those other categories and I'm certain there are more people involved in construction trades than farming.

Hopefully food prices will rise so
A) Wages rise for farm workers
B) Farmers can make a decent living without having to receive massive subsidies from the government
C) Market forces disincentivize destructive and resource intensive consumer/dietary choices

I think a better correlation would truckers having to purchase and maintain two trucks. Farmers are having to purchase and maintain the property they receive subsidises for.
