Reminds me of a story. Where I used to work we had a thriving message board around 2002-2007. At one point there were technical issues and the board was inoperable. Of course all the losers posters were distraught. One enterprising genius somehow copied the board and ran it on another server, continuing along its merry way, independent of our company. We put a new board up but it didn't matter. The traffic was gone. Didn't bother any of the users because then they didn't have to see our ads.
