I just recently watched Shawn Ryan’s podcast, specifically the episode where he had the four men who were pardoned in the Blackwater massacre that took pace back in 2007 in Baghdad. For reference, in September of 2007, four men from the military contracting company formerly known as Blackwater, were sentenced for the murder of 17 innocent men, women, and children in an incident in downtown Baghdad where they opened fire on civilians who they claimed shot at them first. After no evidence was found to support their self defense theory, the four men were charged with murder. In 2020, Trump pardoned all four men of their crimes.

On the podcast the men seem to think that th were worry accused and did not act with any malicious intent. They also seem to want forgovensss for the trouble that the subsequent trials brought to them and their families. What are your thoughts on this touchy subject, do these men deserve the pardon that they received or should they have stayed in jail? Are military contractors even necessary at all from a U.S. governmental standpoint?

PMCs are the future for sure. Probably a place to funnell as much migrants as possible, since most are worthless except cannon fodder. You'll have Congolese fighting Somalis somewhere in the Pacific.

First, they are a great way to manipulate numbers. Send 10,000 troops to the capital of Awesomestan. Once the US public gets weary of this action, remove 8,000 troops. But, replace them with 12,000 defense contracts from Academi. The US taxpayer is still fitting the bill. But, to the American public, it looks like we have a smaller footprint in the country since we have been told that we removed 8,000 US troops.

Second, if one of these employees of Academy gets killed in the capital of Awesomestan, the US media can create wall to wall coverage of "American killed in the streets of Awesomestan". This will give the DOD cover to send in an additional 15,000 US troops into the country. Now, we have even more, paid for by the US taxpayer, than we had at the start of this conflict.

Third, these companies are a great retirement plan for many in the US military.

someone plays way too much metal gear

Hes half correct

What is about to happen is foreign legion type stuff becoming common where foreigners serve in exchange for something like citizenship. Many euro countries are already thinking about this because locals dont want to serve and manpower is needed.

PMCs are private businesses so theres expectation of making profit which means there has to be some level of standard with employees which means company has to pay and thats too expensive

Easier to set up foreign legion, pay shit since people are willing to endure to get citizenship (already being done in france where FFL pays 1200 euros a month and you have to serve 7 years to get citizenshup), set low standards so lots of people join up and send them forth for countries interest

Just my 2 cents lol
