When Did Concert Tickets Become Insane?

Ridiculous, and really a strange time to be a music lover. The system supposedly changed to "fight scalpers", and now instead prices are being "set" to rise/fall instantly depending on demand....while also enabling the same scalpers they are "fighting against' to drive the entire market.

To the OP...best advice is to have patience, play the odds(of scalpers panicking about no return), and see what prices are a day before/the day of. Also check numerous sites(Ticketmaster/Stubhub/Seatgeek/ect).

In the end...you may have to choose between "taking the hit" or missing out. But, mostly recently I did that with lower level for Pantera/Lamb of God. Tickets were going for $150+ in that area, and a pair popped up for $60 each day of.

My guess would be when people stopped paying for music.

Edit: Of course there was also a pandemic and bands couldn't work for about two years.
