Where do you place Joseph Benavidez on the all time greats list?

He's the best not so great..
He had a ton of chances at being the best yet never managed to be the best.

But how does he compare to champs who won the belt one time who weren't competing against a GOAT? I'd place him higher than any of the fly by night champs who just happened to be in the right place at the right place.

I like his wife.

She seems very professional, hasn't given into the porn aspect of Media attraction, and is a reliable on air talent.

Benavidez or Sterling who is greater?

But he didn't and who knows what would have happened. He would have had to beat JDS, Werdum, Stipe, and Overeem. Benavidez had a better chance of running through flyweight, his only challenge there would have been Dodson. He beat the likes of Cejudo, McCall, Formiga, Makovsky, etc.
He didnt had to...he won the title.

Much love to Joe B. A legend in his own right.

But he’s not an all time great. He’s a pioneer,

Kinda like Bonnar and Lytle.

His exciting style helped keep his division alive. His efforts helped build stars.

Sadly, his frame was just too small. Limbs too short to reach the target. Head too big to dodge punches. He had the brain power. But his physical attributes were always gonna be a problem.

So no. Not an all time great. But 100% a gritty exciting pioneer. If anyone loves guys like might mouse, Brandon, god of war…..be grateful for guys like Joe B.

I would challenge anyone to name a boring fight he was in. Dude had a ton of heart.

Hard to say but if you plop 2016 Joey B into flyweight right now he's at worst a top 3 guy. He'd take Royvals lunch money and I think he beats Moreno more times than not.

Via eyepoke, then he lost twice to the same guy. Benavidez nearly beat the BW GOAT without eyepokes and then went on to be the second best flyweight for the next 8 years. Again, if Jones weren't a fuck up DC would have never been a UFC champion. DC lucked out in Jones being a degenerate.

Depends on who.
Being in the right place at the right time is sometimes better than never being in the right place at the right time.

He lost 5 title fights in his life. He's just not on the same level as champs.

Dj
Horigushi
Cejudo
Moreno
Pantoja
Figgy

All are above him

DJ obviously. Also agree with Horiguchi and Cejudo, despite an older Benavidez beating Cejudo. Moreno and Figgy though? Wtf. Figgy has only defended against Moreno and Alex Perez, Moreno has only defended against Figgy. Those two guys spent 3 years only fighting each other. Moreno ended the rivalry and then immediately lost. How on earth are either of them greater than Joseph Benavidez?

Joe B had a much longer shelf life at the top and let's not ignore that Moreno literally got cut from the promotion when Joe B was in his prime. You're placing way too much emphasis on winning the title. Neither Figgy nor Moreno would be champions if they had to fight for the title against a prime DJ. They were both fighting when Joe B was the second best flyweight and neither of them were good enough to even get a match with him.

Again, LHW champion, he actually was a UFC champion, you claim Benavidez was the 2nd best like if its the greatest thing on earth, but discredit DC`s claim at being LHW 2nd best...he was a champion but the best was Jones.

Benavidez lost to more guys than just DJ during those 8-9 years (and overall career), DC lost against 2 guys, his whole career, Jones, the MMA GOAT mind you, and to Stipe Miocic, a guy he beat first btw, a guy that many have in the HW GOAT talks, younger than him, when DC was 40 & 41 years old, Joe B has nothing on DC other than a hotter wife.

Broseph Benavidez is #1 in our hearts

This post is nonsensical. Are you on drugs right now? Nothing I said was incorrect. Benavidez only lost to Dominick Cruz and DJ from 2006 to 2018. Come back tomorrow morning and redo your post.

He was great at fucking guys like you in high school but that's about it.
