Fascinating to me, or to the general population?

Probably Jesus for the general population. There's a pretty firm consensus that he was real and for the last 1000 years a meaningful chunk of the worlds population has literally worshiped the guy with some dedicating their whole lives to studying him.

For me personally... Genghis Kahn, Abraham Lincoln, and Tank Man.

Any historical figure still remembered and talked about after they're gone is interesting. For that to happen, they must have been exceptional in talent, work ethic and/or circumstances. The average joe doing average shit is anonymous.

Abraham Lincoln and Genghis Khan are fascinating to me, but that's only because my idea of them is based on recorded history which of course is biased and incomplete. More fascinating to me is unknowns that could have been out there. Ancient scientists or engineers who taught or influenced other greats but never received credit themselves. History is replete with learning from and taking credit for other people's shit.
