Who Wins: Chad Mendes vs. Alexander Volkanovski

I keep doubting Volkanovski, but I cant see him winning.

Hard to know how good Volkanovski is defensively, as he hasn't faced anyone particularly dangerous on the feet. His usual game of mixing his striking with clinch-work and ground-work isn't going to work here, but I still think he'll dictate the pace for the most part, as Mendes has been pretty inactive outside of pressuring in most of his fights since Aldo II. The question is whether Mendes can impose his pressure and land some bombs. Going into it, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt on that front, but I'm rooting for Volkanovski and I think he has a pretty good shot, plus it would be nice to see more turnover at the top of the division.

If I’m honest I don’t know much about Volkanovski.

Having said that, unless he’s the next big thing I fully expect Mendes to win given that I am a big believer in Mendes. People forgot about him, I didn’t.
