Why are politicians allowed to give paid speeches given the amount of corruption this leads to? It's mostly a legal form of bribery. Nobody is a actually paying them this money to hear them speak. This should be an easy bipartisan issue. Once someone holds high office, they should be barred from giving paid speeches.

Because people want to hear what they have to say and they get to have careers after they leave office?

What do you mean no one is paying to hear them speak? How does a speech lead to corruption? This is some next level snowflake logic.

Cause they make the laws and we sit back and let them

It's exactly what it is. Why isn't there a lot of public outrage over this?
There should be, but I think people are oblivious to it. People generally don't get upset unless the media tells them to, and both left and right take part so the media stays pretty neutral on it because they can't really call out one side and not the other.

How else would they know who to cram favors into every bill for?

Same reason they're allowed to trade individual stocks instead of being limited to index funds.

Its a retirement gig for the kind warm hearts while in office. There's nothing wrong with Obama getting paid speaking arrangements post presidency. He should be able to get paid to speak to wall street execs he bailed out from fucking Americans over and almost sending your country back into a depression. It's the right thing to do

The left is paying Biden NOT to give speeches.

If he can't remember God, what's the chances he'll remember the thing you're paying him to plug?

"And at your Fourth of July celebrations, be sure to enjoy your BBQ with a cool, refreshing... ahhh... you know.... uhh... the thing."

Because of the 5th Amendment

Are we talking about people currently in office? Because I'm pretty sure that's illegal.

Now that said these guys have all sorts of creative ways around it. Harry Reid had a business partner that bought land with him near the Nevada/Arizona border and then Reid passed a bill that included funding for a bridge between the two states near the land, skyrocketing it's value. Members of Congress frequently engage in buying and selling stocks that will be affected by legislation they pass. Biden accepts his bribes through Hunter. Hillary "traded" cattle futures. Friends, family and allies bounce between government jobs and high paid corporate gigs.

Sheldon Adelson gave Trump 75 million and Trump gave his wife The Presidential medal of Freedom. She basically got a medal for fucking the Presidents biggest donor.
Biden has been in DC for 40+ years he owes everybody.
Term limits and campaign reform will save this country. Problem is the left and right have convinced the Rubes the other team is the problem.
So now we have to watch Biden win AZ 4 times and argue over masks. We have been lucky to be a super power this long because most Americans are Rubes.

To be fair, she deserves a Medal of Freedom for fucking this guy:
