You dont get grandfathered in to legend status in the ufc jus because of pride. Lets be honest here

He barely beat mark oldman
Had one good win v machida
Was beat twice by forrest griffin
Ducked a third machida fight
Got knocked out by gus
Got choked by chael sonnen.

Pride legend? Maybe. Ufc legend lol no

Older generation but still managed to be a top fighter in the LHW division and take the title from a guy who seemed unbreakable at the time.

Also, did it all while having a lot of physical wear and tear already from his PRIDE days. Respect.

Who said he's a UFC legend? I'm confused. He's an mma legend but had a pretty shitty run aside from the machida fights. He was way past his prime by the time he signed with the UFC.
 
I've never heard Shogun referred to as a UFC legend. He is a MMA legend.

That he took the belt from Machida, who was an all around alpha was all the more stunning.

Machida was like a super weapon of the time, until government labs had finished producing the vundermon John Jones. prototype for fight production.

Although his record is 8-8......you have to look beyond the numbers. He's beaten numerous ex UFC champs including 3 in the UFC LHW division, he won a LHW title, he's been ranked top 10 every year he's fought since he joined the UFC and was top 5 every year till end 2012. In addition he's put on some on some of the best fights in the history of the UFC......Henderson 1 is considered among the 3 best UFC fights all time.

I like how TS makes up facts......twice lost to Forrest?? Ducked a 3rd Machida fight?? got KO'd by Gus?? We may as well start making up facts the other way......he beat Hendo in the rematch.....defended his belt 5x

He is an MMA legend and top 3 LHW GOAT.

Just the UFC is not enough.
 
He is a legend in the sport of MMA, he was a great fighter in his prime and had many great fights. Most of his UFC run he was battling with serious knee injuries and has had many surgeries, so of course he was never gonna be the same as before. Remember when he beat Machida at that time Machida was undefeated, like 15-0 or something and everyone was crazy high on Machida at that time and making him out to be some unbeatable God, then Shogun beat him in their first fight regardless of what judges say and then knocked him out cold 2nd time.
