No, they want nothing to do with mma wrestlers. They better stick to their little stand up fights in Thailand or whatever they are from.

Why not, it is more to do with how good they are then how young they started.

We literally have Lombooknee already in UFC, wrong spelling. I was kinda surprised than Reed was outstriking her.

If you can get someone like Somrak or Samart and put them in whatever MMA gym it's called in Thailand, why not, the famous one.

Lol you are living in the past dude. Thai fighters seeing pereira and izzy become champs and mma finally becoming a thing in thailand. They will definitely start crossing over more.

Anyone can produce a champ these days. Wwe, kickboxing, YouTube so why children’s kick boxing

There is no underground child fighting circuit. It is out in the open. MMA isn't going to be big in Thailand since BJJ/Wrestling is expensive for locals. Things are changing though. I never thought they would have women or MMA in Lumpinee.

Yes, Thailand just needs more wrestling coaches. BJJ has come a long way in Thailand. They're strong in the clinch already from the Muay Thai base, they should be able to pick up cage wrestling pretty quickly with proper instruction.

There's a few MMA gyms out there already with proven systems (Tiger, Bang Tao, AKA Thailand), I'm sure we'll see some real local Thai talent from there in the next decade. It's one thing to be built up from the ground up than to be a Muay Thai specialist adding things to your game later in life like Looma.

Muay Thai sucks in a real fight. Just watch bar brawler Justin Gaethje destroy the Tiger Muay Thai instructor Fiziev

Crazy! I literally just finished watching that documentary like 5 minutes ago. I think Stamp is a bit of an anomaly. Thai culture holds Muay Thai practioners in such high regard and it's so engrained in the culture that it's really hard to break away from. I don't think we'll see many cross over stars but if we do they'll all do well, like I've said for a while now I think Muay Thai is by far the best base for MMA. Strikes with every limb, clinch work, trips, throws and fantastic conditioning.

Someone should tell these Thais that they can make more money in the UFC than Superbon does in ONE FC. Thailand does actually have some good wrestling gyms now, Tiger Muay Thai is filled with wrestlers and Sambo guys and Volkanovski along with the Hickman Brothers opened a gym in Thailand, Frank Hickman was a standout D1 Wrestler and both brothers long time wrestling coaches. The biggest thing is getting Thais to switch over young enough that have the right style for MMA because the plodding, high guard, erect stance ain't it and even guys with predominantly clinch oriented striking will get shut down by good grapplers. Plus, thais don't cut weight usually and the few men's MMA fighters I've seen are usually too undersized.

To me it just doesn't seem like the Thais want to make the switch to MMA. Established guys do the odd MMA fight as a cash grab but you just don't see young prospects from Thailand with Muay Thai backgrounds in Tiger Muay Thai putting in rounds grappling and training with MMA guys. You don't see them training abroad in MMA gyms like you do Mexicans, Brazilians, Brits, Aussies, Russians, Japanese etc either. But yeah, the MMA based gyms in Thailand like AKA Thailand, Tiger and Vok & the Hickmans gym are the real gateway.

lol

Foonie got hostility towards little thai girls you heard it here first.

Thailand will never care a ton about MMA. Places like Thailand, Netherlands and to a degree japan will always prefer stand up over Mma
