WMMA Discussion #29

If Ribas had a better game plan she could've easily beaten Rose. She was doing well in the 1st half of some rounds by kicking the crap out of Rose's legs & body, Rose still has poor low kick defence and it turns out her body kick defence is also pretty bad. Ribas chopped the legs early and slowed Rose down just enough that the fight was still reasonably competitive, but she spent way too much time head hunting and you're just not gonna get her that way until she's been slowed down more. The low kicks also took enough speed & power off of Rose's punches for Ribas to survive them later on in the fight. And then Ribas stopped kicking the legs & body and it was all downhill from there, Rose was allowed to have an outside boxing match and use her top control on the ground to seal the match.

Main takeaway is do your freakin' homework, and game plans are important. Rose has known weaknesses which don't require a top level fighter to exploit, she's weak in the body and has poor low kick defence so it's not too hard to slow her down, her speed is her greatest advantage so you want to take that away ASAP, especially in a 5 round fight. Chop legs, bang body, and use just enough head strikes to keep her honest, that's how you beat Rose.
Also, head-and-arm-throws are usless against higher level fighters

Fight announcement:

Here are multiple angles of Jacinta Austin opening up,that huge cut on Karolina Wojcik’s forehead from this past weekend:

Gonna throw some thoughts on weekend's UFC cause I am off to the country house and probably not gonna be online much during easter...

Completely unable to choose a side on Blanchfield vs. Fiorot. Both are cool and it will be sad to see either one lose at this point - might have to choose Fiorot just cause Erin is so much younger so she will have an easier time getting back into #1 contender spot. Hope they deliver and Fiorot hurts Blanchfield on the feet and Blanchfield hurts Fiorot on the ground - equal opportunity Just Bleeds

Not happy about having to skip Gatto's fight, but it is what it is. And probably sleeping during Jandiroba vs. Loopy so I can wake up for the main event without completely messing up my sleep pattern, so that's the only ladyfight on the cards at least live.

So ONE has booked a fighter for a fight before they have completed their currently scheduled fight. That hasn’t blown up on them before…

Also, yet another opponent for Stamp who hasn’t fought in a year. If Ham hadn’t shot down the original Hirata date due to Hirata blowing weight, it would have been a year between fights for her, as well. They always tilt shit in her favor.

Also, tired of this champ-champ shit from ONE.

Also, just tired of ONE.

I like One. Except when they tried to screw over Ham after the first Chumbawamba fight, but then Ham defeated her again. Which was nice. I like Ham.

Xiong vs. Stamp should be fun. Shall watch, if there is a sensibly priced way to watch it live, will pay.

vibes picks this week:
- gatto here, not sure if dudakova can run over a flw as easily as she did jinh, a natural atomweight
- controversially, virna - loopy is in form, but virna 2.0 is tough and has excellent grappling. also, loopy doesn't like being on bottom - i think that's virna's path to victory
- erin. manon looked like death at weigh-ins
