If I remember correctly he was a staunch atheist and he would have conversations with Kurt Wagner about it all the time. Kurt was highly religious. Star Trek talking about social issues was nothing new, but they managed to make it insufferable, humourless, preachy tripe with the nuance and charisma of a dented sledgehammer with Discovery. I hope this revival does better, but I don't feel like many modern writing crews have the light touch to pull it off - if they even wanted to, which I think most don't.

I had a disagreement with him once because he claimed today’s marvel comics are nothing but “one woke title after another.” So I asked him what he’s been reading since I have a subscription to the Marvel Unlimited app and keep myself somewhat up to date on what’s happening in the universe. To my surprise (sarcasm) he doesn’t read any titles, doesn’t have the app and was fully triggered about an article he read about 1-2 titles marvel will produce. So of course that means all of marvel is a woke dumpster fire and everything they put out is the same way. Of course he was completely wrong

X-Men: The Animated Series Revival Titled X-MEN '97 Coming to Disney+ in 2023

The 1990s X-Men: The Animated Series is getting a revival on Disney+ with a premiere sometime 2023, TheWrap has exclusively learned.

Currently called X-Men ’97, the revival will pick up where the classic show left off, with several cast members from X-Men: The Animated Series are returning; some will reprise their original roles and others will step into entirely new roles.

Returning cast members include: Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Adrian Hough, Christopher Britton, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Alison Sealy-Smith, Alyson Court.

X-Men ‘97 is also welcoming a number of new voices to the cast, including Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, AJ LoCascio.

Head writer and executive producer on the series is Beau DeMayo. Supervising director is Jake Castorena and supervising producer is Charley Feldman.

Consulting on the new series are X-Men: The Animated Series writers Eric and Julia Lewald, and director Larry Houston.

It's not just that title, it's also the constant changing of the gender/race of characters. Same goes for sexuality. Admittedly I'm not a huge superheros genre fan so it doesn't matter that much to me. But it looks pretty woke to me.

This is also wrong. No characters have been changed. You would know that if you actually read any of the titles they publish. Which clearly you don’t.
And if you were a comic book fan you’d know characters do go thru changes but tend to go back to their original form after some time. This has always happened and is nothing new in comic books universes.

Have you ever read DC comics? They have many versions of the “same” character but with different genders and backgrounds. This isn’t anything new but you guys aren’t really fans of this stuff and are here to bitch and moan.
