52 Common Myths and Misconceptions

Before numb nuts there politicizes the thread, I knew the one about toilets flushing in different hemispheres being a myth. Of course, I also knew that the Flintstones wasn't based on a true story.
But the toilet one I didn't know until his year when my boss told me for no apparent reason.

Not impressed by the list. The majority of things listed were never in the corpus of my misconceptions. The rest of them I never even heard of.

That one about eating before swimming is incorrect. When you eat, some blood is diverted to your gastroentestinal tract. When you exercise, blood is diverted to your muscles. So if you eat right before strenuous exercise that can cause cramps sometimes because your body is unable to process the food correctly (not enough blood). It doesn't always happen and probably wouldn't matter if you're just chilling in the pool. But I would'nt have a big meal and go for an intense ocean swim.

You wouldn't eat a big meal and go for an intense anything.

It's not talking about strenuous exercise

I don't know why everyone has to shit on this? I liked the list. Yeah, some of it could have been better. But really, just stop bitching.

You probably believe that dinosaurs and people coexisted.

I don't, but it would be cool if they did.

While I hope/wish they did, that's just me speaking because it would be cool, not because of religious influence.

Imagine having a pack of trained Velociraptors... I'd click my tongue and be like "Go eat that hatin ass muthafucka Soda-pop"...

It would have been a dumb but fun list without the inclusions that reference Islam and Christianity.

I'd just sick my pet t-Rex on them as I ride away on my stegosaurus steed.

This infographic shows 52 of the most common myths and misconceptions people still believe today. From people thinking bats are blind to others thinking we only have 5 senses, there is a lot of useful information here.

The 24 hours to report a missing persons may not be true now, but it was.

putin believed the great wall of china myth. he said it in an interview about a year ago.

It depends on what you use to look. Satellites can see my house from space.

The boiling temperature of water actually raises a few degrees with salt in it.

On the other hand, distilled water can be superheated in a microwave oven that doesn't have a turntable a few degrees above the boiling point without the bubbling expected. As soon as it's disturbed it can convert a portion to steam. Most tap water has enough minerals in it to break the surface tension.

It's true where I live for adults. Unless you have information that they were supposed to be somewhere at a certain time. I assume that list is from the UK.

I think the myth, is that you have to wait to report it. Technically you can report what you want whenever the fuck you want, but back in the day, the police wouldn't classify a missing person as "missing" for 72 hours. They don't do that now.

You can report anything at any time but they might not make an official report on it.

If Jurrasic Park taught you anything you'd know that a pack of Game Bred Velociraptors > T-Rex any day.

Also you didn't account for the Pterydactyl that I have flying air support...

Real velociraptors were the size of dogs. The pterodactyls could be a problem though. Do they have lasers?
