Anyone listen to the album from the first movie dedicated to the characters?

Would they just make this fucking movie already?

Jesus Christ. I've been hearing about this project for YEARS now, and through multiple director changes. It seems like they just can't actually get it off the ground.

I loved the short film they had a few years ago. Was awesome! The web series that built off of it was just fucking horrendous

I thought the web series was okay for what it was: basically a fan-made series of webisodes with little actual involvement from either Midway or New Line.

I always liked both Mortal Kombat movies.

Loved both Mortal Kombat movies as a kid. I hope they don't botch it.

That 2nd movie was pretty painful. I watched it a few months ago after seeing it shredded so badly in a forum. I had remembered it as being OK, but holy dog shit, it was damned near unwatchable. It really played like a bad He-man cartoon episode... corny, cheesy, stiff, and silly, pretty on par with Guyver 2.

Love the first one, love the soundtrack (still have it on tape somewhere). Hopefully it's not a huge budget movie and done very well.

Yeah I hear that a lot, but I really did like it always. I watched it recently and still liked it.

Here's why the sequel should be hated beyond the actual movie - It effectively killed all external media interest.

Know why another MK game didn't come out five years later in 2003? The movie was such an embarassment it was thought to have killed off MK's popularity.

And it's also the reason why there hasn't been any interest whatsoever in making a third movie. Besides the videogames, the only external media has been the craptacular TNT series, until the awesome 2010 short film/extended trailer was released, which led to the craptacular web series.

Yes, thank you so very much Annihilation for sending MK-related media into the wilderness for 20 years.

Deadly Alliance came out in 2002

It needs to be true to the games. A hard R with brutal death scenes. The first movie was a great popcorn flick, but it was a kids movie.

SUB ZEEEERROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH

It's like C & C Music Factory got a hold of it.

AND THE ABSOLUTE BEORST:

MORTAL KOMBAT'S HERE TO STAYYYYYY OOOOH
JOHNNY CAGE IS NOT AFRAID TO DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEe

I hope this is a high budget movie with some decent direction and not some shitty low budget straight to red box movie.

I'd say MK's marketing (the videogames) was targeted towards kids of all ages.

I remember being worried for months that the movie's rating was going to be R, and when I saw the TV commercial with a shortened 30-second trailer I flipped my shit at how awesome it looked, and flipped my shit again at the end when it said PG-13.

I was 12 years old in 1995, and my mom forbid me from seeing R-rated movies.

On a serious note, who would you get to be Liu Kang? I thought the guy they got in the 90s was pretty much perfect for the role.

A younger Jason Scott Lee would have been perfect, he's kinda old now at 50 but he doesnt look that old still, put him on a workout regimen and use makeup/cgi. He's still the only actor that got the essence of Bruce Lee in Dragon.

Or Harry Shum Jr. is another possibility, hes got the looks, he know martial arts and hes got the physique for it. Another possibity is the actor from Ninja Assassin, his name is Rain, limited english but good enough maybe and he looks perfect for the part. Or you can bring in someone new if you scout for a talented young asian actor, theres probably tons of undiscovered talent out there.

But either JSL or Harry Shum would be perfect, Rain would be 3rd choice.
