Dillon Danis & Mansher Khera Suspended From Marcelo Garcia Jiu-Jitsu Gym

Well, Dillon is just trying to make money much like Gordon Ryan is. Can you really hold that against them?

Never will I begin to understand why many people seem to feel this motive *justifies* terrible behavior.

"Yes, i stabbed you in the face and stole your wallet, but I was just trying to make money."

"Yes I defrauded you, and yes I lied, but I was just trying to make money."

Insofar as that was your motivation, it just makes your behavior much worse.

Getting rid of guys is probably the hardest thing for a gym owner. Especially when they are good.

It's one of the most important things though to have a good gym. Everyone is so focused on getting new people in the door. But one guy hurting your environment will cost you 10x as many people back out the door as long as he's around.

I've seen this effect firsthand recently. Gym of a good friend had one of his best guys lose his passion for BJJ and was just going through the motions. No issue with that, but he was still teaching classes for over a year that way. Eventually he moved on and now a year later, gym's regular classes are now double in size. There weren't any significant changes anywhere else. Just removing that one guy resulted in keeping an extra 20 students or so around over the course of a year.

I don't know any details here, but the fact that Marcelo is even willing to take such a step (most aren't) shows that he is a cut above your average guy. As if there was ever any doubt anyway, but it's a nice reminder.

I'm also glad to see that Marcelo is a little too wise to fall for this short sighted reasoning as well.

I know how much some of these upstart pro grappling events are paying. The gym fees for one white belt little kid training for three months exceeds what an average black belt makes for a superfight at one of them. I'm sure "high profile" black belts are making a little more, but it's not that much more. Metamoris failed for a reason. Pro grappling is not awash with tons of cash.

Kids classes are a huge revenue source for gym owners. Don't think for one second the parents aren't paying attention to this stuff. They put their kids in TKD, Karate, and yes even BJJ because they think it builds character like other positive sports. They aren't putting their kids in MMA or Pro Wrestling classes, despite the fact that both of those things draw way more fan interest than any of the previous three.

Make a couple hundred bucks in a pro grappling superfight by saying some stupid stuff on social media vs make a couple thousand bucks recurring yearly by building a positive gym environment for yourself and the community.

Wait, so Bernie Madoff isn't a nice guy?

squabbles doesn't strike me as someone with a moral compass that registers empathy.

Anyone from MGA that knows what is going on, I'd appreciate a PM. For the first half of this talk I was trying to figure out what rules I broke during the previous class and why Marcelo kept looking at me. Then I realized that Matheus was sitting right in front of me, so he was probably looking at him. Or I was just being paranoid. I was surprised to hear Munch's name. He is always at the academy and has always been friendly and treated me well.

Also, on live tv Dillon was called for his wannabe persona that he has adopted since being around Mcgregor and the fighter, Steve Kozola, implied that this behaviour was shameful (cannot think of a proper adjective ATM) to Marcelo.

I cannot find the full in-cage call out

Timestamped (not the whole altercation)

Seeing Danis over the past year has been a huge bummer. I was always a big fan of his game and it's been a real shame to see him go from how he was in 2014 and 2015 to how he carries himself now

can someone please tell me who this Danis guy is,[ Ive seen his cringeworthy Instagram but why is he famous? Ive been out of the grappling scene for 4 years

Probably the biggest name in grappling right now. The general consensus in the BJJ and MMA communities is that he will most definitely win the Bellator title eventually making his way to the #1 contender spot in the UFC.

Also, super humble guy on and off the mats. Has built a solid reputation for himself.

perhaps danis didnt give permission for his training to be used for marketing

Not sure if serious?

Cuz, 'Merica, and cuz capitalism, and cuz if you don't agree with, yer a terrorist.

To be fair, Danis' relationship with Conor and his douchebag attitude is what landed him a Bellator contract. Who gets signed with a pro MMA promotion with absolutely ZERO amateur fights? Danis would still be grappling for hundreds instead of the tens of thousands he'd make fighting MMA. Sure it's no excuse for poor behavior but I feel his time at MGA has past. Unfortunate situation that time hopefully heals.

My guess is that there was bad behavior inside the gym,

Bellator has signed at least one 0-0 prospect before, Aaron Pico, with no amateur fights. Dillon brings a tiny wee bit of stardom by his association with McG and good credentials thanks to his own athletic career, so it shouldn't be a total bust if he manages to be a poor grappling-oriented version of Mcgregor. If McG appears in a Bellator event to support Dillon, it will surely rustle the UFC's jimmies.

No one can fault Dillion for this one. Munch was the villian in this case. Some guys just don't know how to act when women are around.

I heard Dominque left because of her breakup with Munch. Imma guess he was trying to bag up other girls in the gym and Marcelo wasn't having it. You already got sloppy and had one prospect leave over you, fck that. Suckas shitting where they eat

Marcelo is the best!!!. This is more than money, fame, jiu jitsu.

This is a lifestyle and we all need to surround ourselves with the best people we can
