I was not expecting to do well ... at all

I had no time during the contest window to really do something eventful so I chose to just slap something together - wasn't even expecting to get in as an alternate so didn't take it too seriously

But it looks like I'm the only one who didn't do a Khabib shoop :p

How did you put this together? Did you find a gif of that footage that already existed or did you DL the movie and cut out the segment you wanted yourself?

To do that in Photoshop you would use the Magic Wand tool and click on a letter making sure "Conitiguous" is deselected at the top. This will select all the orange on the whole image instead of just that letter. If "Conitiguous" was turned on, it would only select that letter. You could do it that way and select all the letters one at a time (while holding Shift), but it was easier to do it w/o "Conitiguous".

Now that u have all the letters selected, you can refine your mask using Select and Mask or Refine Edge, or however else you wish. Hell you could eyeball it too and refine it with a lasso if needed. After you have refined your selection (you may not have to do that. I didnt.) you could just copy/paste the letters onto the top layer or get them to the top however you wish.

I used AE, so I just saved the letters as a .png and plopped them on top and called it a day. You could also get the cage wires to go over his face but I didnt fee like it. That would be a little more tricky to do and would have taken like 10-15 minutes but I just wanted to make that gif really fast.

Appreciate the advanced technique tips. I'm still operating on 18 year old knowledge and I figure my shit takes 40 times longer than it actually should!

I tried conceptualizing some ideas for over a week but could not find adequate video to use.....was down to last 2 hours before submission deadline with literally nothing made and I came across some weird base gif and had to roll with it. I have no idea what I was thinking but it turned out okay. But yes, it's gross and disturbing and I'm not sure what I was thinking. I'll seek help.
 
I loved doing this one. It’s my first shoop contests I took serious, and I’m excited to do it again.

Any idea on a timeline for the next competition? You mentioned it will be non-GIF, which should make for some tight competition. Already pumped for the next event!
 
i still havent voted yet cause everytime i open page 1 my net crashes from the amount of gifs !!
any chance it can be edited into spoilers please ?
