I know this personally! He only put my grandfather in jail for 9 years, tortured him daily, shined a light into his taped eyes for days (requiring multiple cataract surgeries) and would have his boys call my grandmother with a gun to the back of my grandfathers head just to hear her cry....they did all that just for funsies. I only attempted 17 times to escape the socialist paradise because It was so good/, trots knows better than all of us
Yeah, but you know he must have had a good reason for doing these things. It was for the people, after all.
Don't you know the truth about Castro? Dictators do dictatorial things. He won independence! Plus, he was so brave in how he set himself up as a wealthy dictator for life! Why, just early today, I heard someone wax eloquent on how brave Castro was, in fighting against Batista and storming military barracks, rifle in hand! How could a brave man be a bad man?
After all, Castro, when he was arrested and tried in 1953, was tried before an independent court, which went against the wishes of Batista in a number of important respects. That is very inefficient; it would have been much more efficient to use show trials or summary executions, like Castro did against his enemies, and execute any judges who try to dissent.
What does it matter that Castro ran a brutal, repressive state? Isn't it much better, after all, that people be tortured by communists, rather than capitalists? Torture of the People, by the People, I say!
Only a total weasel could do anything but celebrate Castro's splendid legacy.
