and then 205+ to unlimited......why is their less space between boxing weight classes than mma weight classes?

They should allow kicks and a bit of groundwork as well...then it might really take off as a sport.

More weight classes mean more champions, more contenders and more money generated. That's not going to change.

This most likely will not change: to get clients attention with event where some tittle fight is easier, this means = more wievership and indirectly also generates more $ to pay for undercard bouts etc. More tickets sold, tickets price too might be higher + to get media attention ( from local media till international media ) easier.

They should have written bans by plebiscite into the new forum rules.

They should have a weight class for each pound between 100-300. Then we'll get to see who the real champ is.
I think the 183lb division would be stellar

I blame @PHATV - he had the motive and opportunity on 4/1 and didn’t pull the trigger.

Although we'd probably lose more than a few members this way, it MIGHT curb overt acts of retardation.

anything below 135 can be replaced by every 7lbs and I'd be fine with it. Everything else is fine.

If that's the case, then why haven't they added a super heavyweight class? That's whats actually missing. Have HW be like 220 and below and SHW be over 220.

Right now if you're a 215 lber, youre in a bind unless you're blessed with ungodly power like Wilder.

WoW, if for weight from 200 lbs till 220 will be created separate weight class, Usyk and guys like he ( 214-218 lbs weight in ) might be blessed.

I always thought a few pounds didn't make much difference but you know, the actual gladiators feel different. Jake Lamotta mentioned how a 168 pound division would have been perfect for him, and hagler's trainers once credited his quick kayo of hamsho in contrast to the first fight because he came in a couple pounds heavier. Arguello stated that four divisions was and would forever be too much for any fighter, he was wrong, but I think the fighters should be given some credence. Personally, I think it's silly having 18 or however many divisions there are today.

8th grade city champs Catholic league. Undefeated. I was a starting forward. Had a center who could slam (that didn't hurt) and several of us had played together since like 2nd/3rd grade. For years. And most of them had older brothers that wrecked us good. For years. That didn't hurt, either. Guards were great ball handlers, everyone was very fast and made damn near everything they threw up---and was used to where the others would be, etc.
Smaller school and we generally got beat on in every sport every year, so it was fun.
We played that song in the locker room after every game that season. On someone's "ghetto blaster". Singing and dancing around. Good memories, but seeing their clothes and how horribly dated everything is sadly means I'm FAR closer to social security than those days long ago.
But every time I hear that song...

1982 cards won the World Series. They played.

I still miss the "tonight" weights and wish we would get them all the time, still. Unofficial scale in the locker room. It was cool.
Would be neat for MMA, too.
Nowadays, casuals have no idea how big some of these guys are on fight night a mere 24 hours after weigh-in.
I think part of the reason they don't show it anymore is because people would be like "wait, that's not right" and it would cause more problems with the snowflakes of society.
I remember watching some old fights TNFs or HBO back in the day and you'd see the "weigh-in 149.5" and "tonight 168.5" or something and be like what the hell!? lol
I mean as a % sometimes it was shocking the way those guys would re-hydrate.

Sounds about right. I would have been 13 and headed into the season turning 14 in early '83. So it was '82/'83ish.
The other thing I crack up about is that those were the days of the "short shorts" in basketball. WTF with that? Like the smaller the better back then. And high socks too, I think. Haven't seen the pics in a while but they're cringe. lol
Stupid as hell looking, now. Like we probably had groups of pedos in the stands back in those days.

Having more weight classes means less guys caught in between and less extream weight cuts like in MMA where guys are passing out in saunas. This also makes for less size mismatches as well. I think it's fine as is.
