Cerrone has no one to blame but himself for letting Pettis up in the first. He was in there with a guy who got manhandled by Nate Diaz, one of the least physically imposing fighters ever. Cerrone is much stronger and has far better wrestling. Instead of using it, he decided to largely strike at distance, which is Pettis' game.
Almost anything other than what he did would've been better. More pressure on the feet, starting combos with the hands and finishing with kicks. Pushing him up against the cage, dirty boxing and roughing him up with knees. Committing to takedowns and top control. All of these options would've likely secured him a win.
Very tired of watching this guy just be happy to be there. Give the big name opponents he's been getting to fighters who actually give a shit about their career and winning.
