UFC On ESPN 12: Poirier vs. Hooker

At first I said to myself "no way Hooker can win this fight". But the more I think about it the more I am flip flopping.

Porier coming off a huge loss. Huge injury + rehab. Does he have it still? I could see vintage Porier for 2 rounds if everything is going well but what if the going gets tough?

Might just stay away entirely

I can't be the only one who sees huge value in Villante

His style isn't pretty but tbh it only becomes more effective at Heavyweight. Like he's already slow and just walks forward with hands (plus okay enough wrestling), and that's pretty much all most Heavyweights do anyway. Yeah Maurice Greene could land a bomb, but at 3.0 Villante feels like a bargain

Plus judges love him because he's one of Matt Serra's guys

Lins couldn't even ko Arlovski and you pick him to ko Boser, who after over 20 fights has only been finished once? I played Gane via decision vs Boser and I think his chances of getting a finish was way higher than Lins. Really curious about your reasoning.

If I recall right many faded Woodson for his last fight - calling him unimpressive. Did he really look so good that he deserves to be big fav over Nelson here.
Bochniack isnt the best win I agree.

Looked impressive in that fight but i remember comments here and on twitter saying no one predicted that improvement based on tape...
he didnt really look that improved. I went back to his old regionals and he always fought similar. Bochniak was never someone who is going to push him too much

I don't trust Villante. He's slow as fuck and shopworn beyond belief at this point. Agree that odds should be closer, tho
At first I said to myself "no way Hooker can win this fight".
For me at least, most of the times the first thought is the right one.

Dustin's pocket boxing is one of his stronger points, and Hooker is at best mediocre in the pocket. Also Hooker is exiting exchanges with his hands way down. Poirier's combination punching should in theory really expose this bad defensive habit of him. I think Dan is getting finished in this one. His intercepting knees and counters are working great on guys crashing into the pocket with no regard for defence. I don't think DP fights like that at all.

It should be noted that this is another one of this fights where a fighter comming from a titlefight loss gets matched up with a top contender and a lot of the times the top condender wins. I wanna see Dustin win because Hooker is too cocky. :)

I played Woodson against Bochniak and was confident, but soon as I seen this line I put 2u on Nelson.
Nelson is a complete different animal, and those odds are rediculous

Only 2 fighters Im confident they win are Luis Pena and Perry.

Any info on Kyle Daukaus???
