In their primes: Khabib vs Hughes

Hughes was strong as fuck. I pick him. When both guys are strong, i go with the bigger guy

In that case, you’re a retard

Who cares what is pretty, this is about how Khabib and Hughes match-up right?

Khabib has better stand-up than Hughes.

You have NOT shown that.. Have NOT even made the attempt..

Khabib couldn't keep Al down and Hughes is a much bigger and far superior wrestler who was also no slouch at BJJ, he subbed a young GSP.
True... but Hughes' striking was so terrible Khabib would just stand. Khabib is a 6-7/10 striking. Hughes was a 2/10 striker. Al's striking is significantly better than Hughes and it's why Al gave him such a good fight. He's so much more well rounded than Hughes ever was.

Different weight class. Prime Hughes dominates Khabib at 170. People forgot how he stranglehold the division for years

It’s hard to comprehend how fucking stupid this opinion is. Khabib is a better grappler, better striker and a lot bigger than Hughes.

Go eat a bus on the nearest highway

Anyway I think Colby is just a broke man's Hughes. Yeah Colby might have better volume while striking but Hughes has bricks in his fists. I think 28 year old Hughes is WW champ right now today.

I like Hughes man I favor grapplers as it was what I trained when I had time, but he loses to a lot of guys in the current top ten of the WW division IMO.

I've seen Hughes HURT people standing. Who has Khabib hurt standing? Like legitimately hurt leading to a finish standing?

Dude Al Sucks.. He is awful.. And I don't say that lightly.. But he is bad..

That's a tough call.. Hughes was a big WW for his day, and a great grappler..

It’s not tough at all, Khabib is a much better grappler, light years ahead striking AND bigger

When people say Sherdog is retarded they’re talking about the people that think Hughes would beat Khabib

Is Hughes really that much bigger than khabib though? I think he gets murked tbh

Being a better striker than Khabib means fuck all. Conor, Dustin, Michael Johnson, RDA, Barboza were all better strikers than Khabib. And they were certainly far better strikers than Matt frickin Hughes. Khabib would make him look like an amateur.
Hughes is definitely not better lol

Whenever "Khabib at WW" or "Khabib against a upper weight wrestler" comes up the Tibau fight is there for reference. It's really hard to outwrestle bigger wrestlers who know what they're doing.

Striking for striking is easier. BJJ for BJJ is easier, as well, as seen with smaller ninjas jumping to Absolute and sometimes winning the damn thing.

I don't. I think the champ and #1 contender are basic carbon copies of Hughes. Dominant wrestlers with freakishly good cardio. All them have crappy stand up. FFS Maia was outboxing Colby for a round and a half until he gassed and we've never seen Usman in a prolonged striking engagement except against Colby. Hughes weighs roughly the same as Usman and they are both bigger than Colby and I still would vote for Hughes to have the best cardio out of the 3.

And without a doubt Hughes is better with his submissions then Usman and Colby.

Hughes would've went to the ground against Maia rather then use the strategy both Colby and Usman used just to prove a point.

That's not really an objective analysis at all.

Al:
wrestling: 8/10
striking: 7/10
subs: 2/10

Hughes:
wrestling: 9/10
striking: 2/10
subs: 7/10

Seeing as Khabib couldn't keep Al down I don't see Hughes getting a submission attempt off. So what's he going to do? He's completely outclassed in any striking match.

Or those that never watched Hughes fight in his prime..

Educate me on how the one dimensional wrestler was going to beat a guy levels above him in grappling, light years ahead of him in striking and bigger than him.
