Nintendo NINTENDO SWITCH Official Discussion v5: Breath of the Pokemon

I’ve been playing Fire Emblem Three Houses again a bit and man I love this game lmao. It’s my 5th playthrough and I have over 320 hours played but it’s still so good
That’s awesome. I went the dimitri Route my first play through and this second one I chose Claude I’m not too far into it yet though. Really enjoying it though. You play anything online?

I hope we get a Switch release for Wind waker/Majora’s mask/Skyward sword in the near future. I’ve been itching to play some Zelda and never played the aforementioned titles. There’s a prequel to BotW coming out next month which I thought was a whole new full-fledged Zelda game but it’s a derivative called Hyrule Warriors.

Would you guys recommend Fire Emblem to someone who’s never played an FE game before? Seems to be highly reviewed by everyone, and I’ve enjoyed similar style games in the past like Bahamut Lagoon and FF Tactics.

I would definitely recommend Fire Emblem. I am not even a big fan of the style of game, but it is a truly great game.

Nice, the order I did was Edelgarde-Dimitri-Claude/Church (I actually forget which I did between the two first)

I’m not sure which my favorite is but it’s probably Claude’s. I’m doing his again. Least favorite is Edelgardes especially after playing the other routes.

I don’t play switch games online except Smash a little bit a while ago. Too laggy for me unfortunately.

Yes, Three Houses is a good first Fire Emblem game for new players. It’s not too difficult unless you play on Maddening which I would suggest not doing on the first play through, (Hard/Classic is a good difficulty if you want something challenging for a first playthrough)

Three Houses added or changed quite a bit of things compared to the previous entries so even veteran players had new stuff to get used to. I would recommend Fire Emblem 7 (just called Fire Emblem outside of Japan) which was the first one to be released in NA as another good starting point and especially if you want more of a old-school type of Fire Emblem.

I just got a Switch a couple weeks ago, and I have been playing Super Mario Odyssey recently. Everyone and their mom had ridiculous over the top praise for this game when it came out, and I've gotta say...I think people undersold it. Damn. This game is fucking phenomenal. This goes fully against the grain of modern gaming. I feel like this may change after I beat the game, but so far there is no padding or filler. The game respects my time and every single moment of gameplay is fun and rewarding. It's such a breath of fresh air. Like, YES, this is what a video game should be. I feel like all the things people applauded BotW's open world for are doubly true here. It is fun to explore, and the game constantly rewards you for doing so. The game moves at a really brisk pace and never drags. I just can't say enough good things about this game.

Switch was my first console in a long time (bought a PS3 12 years ago, but also barely used it and before that my latest console was an N64), so I cannot really compare it to other Nintendo consoles. But man, Odyssey was absolutely amazing, that game was also the reason I preordered Mario Allstars 3D, just to see whether Sunshine and Galaxy are anywhere close to it. Unfortunately I have yet to play it.

Just started Xenoblade Chronicles. Holy hell this game loves side quests lol

I absolutely loved XC2 but XC1 just didn't do it for me. I don't know why but I just didn't enjoy anything about it. The story seemed semi interesting but never really grabbed me the combat was decent though.

I've never been a fan of platformers and I didn't really like this game. I beat it but I just didn't enjoy it that much. It was to simple and just underwhelming really. I feel like indie platformers have really shown what the future should be for these games. Ori was perfect and made me realize I can still enjoy platformers I just need more of a challenge and to have the gameplay change consistently throughout.

Get the Mario rabbids game though if you get a chance. A nice twist on Xcom that I thought was really well done.

Did you just beat it as in you got the bare minimum number of moons and then beat the game or did you collect all of them? Some of them were hard shit to get... The difficulty ramps up as you try to get everything...

Bravely default 2 delayed til February.

Not surprised

I beat the dark side of the moon and that’s it. Which was the hardest part because I couldn’t heal during the boss fights but even then it wasn’t that bad.

Its' been eons but Dark Side of the Moon was easy. I might have restarted that once or twice at most if ever through all the bosses. Darker Side of the Moon though. That tore my ass in half. I gave up on it. Plus there are random moons that were really hard to get that required precise controller inputs.

I thought it was a solid game. You have to take the target audience into account. Little kids will play this so Nintendo had to make most of the moons relatively easy/moderately hard to complete so kids could beat it. If the hardcore platformers wanted a challenge then they would go further and collect the rest of the harder moons.

My Pro controller bit the dust in September, accidentally spilled water on it and despite soaking it in 91% isopropyl alcohol it doesn't work at all. I opened the thing up to see if I can pinpoint the issue and put it back together because I'm too stubborn to pay another $60+ for something I can potentially repair.

Hi all... thinking of getting the Animal Crossing game for my 7 year old daughter for Christmas - is it appropriate for that age? Will she be able to play it?
