Is he pegged down from the “Greatest Of All Time” moniker? Will people credit him for taking the risk but coming up short and not care? Khabib and GSP are obviously the greater champions but people credit Jon as being the greater fighter... If he loses by knockout rather than decision will he be memed into oblivion by Adesanya and co.?

I love Jon as a fighter but he needs to win to be the GOAT. You need to be successful in multiple weight classes to be the GOAT imo...

I think it would depend on the manner in which he loses and what he does after that, cause it's not like he would retire after that.

Jones will be in the GOAT conversation regardless, though, one fight cannot erase a decade of dominance.

How are Khabib and GSP "obviously" the greater champions?

He has a loss at LHW no matter how the nuthuggers slice it,
Damn right..

They haven't failed numerous drug tests? They haven't hid from test sample collectors?

The main argumenet against it would be that he's out of his prime I spose, ironically being made by people who have spent years arguing that nobody is ever out of their prime in their early/mid 30's.

He has a loss at LHW no matter how the nuthuggers slice it, a loss at HW wouldn’t mean much either.
2 losses really. First fight against Gus was not a win.

Jon will greatly benefit from the super weak division with no grapplers. He still can't beat all of them, even if he matches well with strikers that can be controlled on the ground.

100% but people love using pick and choose logic to forget that. If you think decisions are final and you can't overturn the officials, then Jones got himself DQ'ed. If you think the official decision is a joke and that, "no matter what the record books say, we all know what happened," then Reyes beat Jones.

Slice it however they want, he's still got a loss

If he truly moves up is a matter of when not if.
He might fight in the Fall because he will face the winner of Stipe/Francis 2 for the title and the fight (Stipe/Francis 2) is likely will happen in April
