Great to see The Prophet back! I've only experienced the occasional spurts of Barry's greatness in later years, but have, of course, dug deep into the history of Sherdog's n.1 £ 4 £ capper!

Man, this just made this old timer's morning. The legendary King Troll is back. The betting forum's Andy Kaufman, never breaks character, ignores all replies, doing his thing once again. Amazing.

I wish you guys could see the posts from years and years ago. For those who weren't here, Barry was "The Cooler" on this forum forever. Constantly losing $, talking about taking out credit card advances to keep betting, borderline suicidal. Then one day he decided he was just gonna immediately change his persona on here to that of a high stakes sharp that became a tour with a betting service. I mean like... overnight. Posting to literally the same people whose read his posts for years and knew he sucked at betting MMA, but he has NEVER broken character since.

Like I said, he's probably the most legendary long-game troll I've ever seen.

I've been posting/lurking these topics since probably the first dozen or so topics and only really kept coming to Sherdog for them even before the subforum, can go months without checking the main board now.

Still miss reading posts from a lot of the older posters that have come and gone over the years (EZ, BluntTrauma, MMAGoodfella, Sham and probably a dozen others that still browse/occasionally post but reduced their involvement cos of arguing/the move from indie threads to a subforum/just stopping betting), but the frequent demise and rebirth of barrygood1 is one of my favourite things about these topics. I think it was MMAGoodfella that christened him The Cooler but it was apt.

I wasn't a huge fan of the broken Barry arc when Trump/his gambling losses did a number on him, but I'm grateful for the return and already liking the heavier hip hop vibe to his posting style.

We've lost one fantastic poster in Sadistics (I think he said he'd still be posting in these topics for discussion but only saw like one post a few weeks back), but at least he's been immediately replaced with the return of Barry.

Yes! I think you're right it was MMAGoodfella that dubbed Barry The Cooler...

Sadistics is gone? Did he give a reason? He had pretty much achieved Demi God status here.
 
Things haven't quite fallen her way in her recent fights, but Marina Rodriguez has a rare tenacity for a female fighter. I'm a fan of Ribas, but I don't think she should be quite this large a favorite. Marina has shown an ability to stay in fights, both mentally and physically, even after being dominated on the ground for long periods. For example, the minute she was able to get up against Calvillo she poured on aggressive offense. Impressive heart and toughness! I can see her putting enough damage on Ribas to win rounds, or even finish her in some burst of violence.

I'm putting 1.5u on the rabid dawg!

Guess it makes sense. That said, while he's a solid capper, his real strength was scorching openers and grabbing insane value on poor line setting by books when they opened them. Not sure how well that translates to being a paid tout.
