How many times does this need to be explained to you morons? This is an anomaly. You don't look at anomalies, you look at widespread trends - in this case, excess deaths. When you do this, you don't find that we have lower than average non covid deaths, and total covid deaths+not covid deaths is about average deaths, which is what you would see if non covid deaths were being widely reported as such. Instead, you see a massive number of deaths above the usual average, IN EXCESS OF COVID DEATHS. This means that more people are dying than usual, even if you take out all the covid deaths.

These are the same people who look at once instance of voter fraud, like some MAGA Karen voting on behalf of her dead father, and suddenly it's evidence of major fuckery and now we need to audit an entire election. This is one case of misattributing cause of death to COVID and suddenly it's evidence of some grand political scheme that I'm not sure what it is.

This was always the case. Here’s my state’s top public health official admitting as much. Of course, she was ordered to reframe how she spoke about the issue after this got out. The COVID pandemic is real, but it is also terribly politicized and CT’s are being handed far too much material to work with.

The excess deaths suggest that Covid deaths are being under-estimated - not over-estimated. Just because people don't have a good grasp of statistics (or reality for that matter) it doesn't mean that CT'ers are justified in their myopic and contra-reality beliefs.

Something that causes the premature deaths of millions of people will of course correctly be politicised - as it should be.
