Gokhan Saki released from the UFC, hints at return to kickboxing

Glory MUST contract him. As Broadcast said, a 2-3 fight contract will do for the moment. He must prove that he is still a top fighter after all. He may feel a little ring rust since he haven`t fought for a while.

Would make sense to go to Glory. I don't see him going to HW though, unless he gets back on the horse meat.

Very nice choice

Saki vs Pereira at LHW sounds great to me. That's if Saki can get one or two wins first, and if Pereira beats Artem in the rematch.

I also think Khbabez should drop to LHW. If Saki can debut with a bang i could see Khbabez vs Saki as a main event in the future.

Will be intersting how he will do at 37 years old, his strength was always pressure and high volume hope he can still deliver.

This is likely going to be an unpopular opinion, but I think Saki should retire. He had two rough TKO losses in MMA on top of being 37 now. I'm sure he would still be formidable in a Kickboxing match, but I don't think he should risk more CTE for a handful more years of fighting.

I don’t think he’s been the Saki of old for some time. He kind of fell off the map after winning the glory title then fought once in a period of 2 years before fighting in mma. Maybe he has it in him to bring back some great fights but I don’t know.

Oh i completely agree with you, he hasn't been himself for years and he could take serious damage against some of the Glory guys. I said Saki vs Pereira and Saki vs Khbabez at LHW would be great fights to make but i'd rather him just retire from fighting.

as a huge life long saki fan i agree with all that retirement thing but still would love to enjoy him one last fight.

however, he's not gonna retire anytime soon - too much (false) pride or too tough for his own good - call it whatever you want.

warrior from the top to the bottom.

He is getting old, I know. He did not delivered recently because of his constant arm injuries and surgical interventions. Who knows if he can get back in reasonable shape again.. However, just for now, let us enjoy him coming back to see him at least for one or two fights. I would be really excited to see him again. Not against Rico since it seems obvious that at this moment he can't beat him but against a more suitable contender.
We should cherish every moment with guys like Badr, Saki and other dinosaurs of the sport, because they won`t be here forever and the new guys.... well, you know.

He got caught with a punch mid kick and hammer fisted in 1 UFC fight. The other MMA TKO loss was from 17 years ago. I think people put way too much stock in the Roundtree loss. Outside of that only 6 losses due to strikes in Kickboxing and most of that was earlier in his career. I wouldn't look at him as a big CTE risk, a lot of that would be genetic dependent. He certainly has a lot of miles on him overall though, and I'm sure some supplemental help could make him a real threat again. He does rely a lot on speed which diminishes with age.

I dont know. That ghita fight probably took years off his life. But I seen spong is back with hoofs, and looks to be fully training kickboxing again since he ruined his boxing career.

I think they might do the trilogy fight

Glory should just say fuck it and book another HW tournament.

Rico
Saki
Spong
Kryklia (after they trade Petch)
Pereira
Benny
JBS
Pacas

If we can get both Spong and Saki back in Kickboxing that would be GREAT, even if they are beyond their prime. They should have never left....

I can't remember why Saki left KB to be honest but i know Spong's last KB fight was when he broke his leg against Saki. Even if they are past their primes they could be huge for Glory just based solely on name value.

Why do you believe that Spong ruined his boxing career?

I would guess they weren't happy with Glory pay
