What shoes do you lift in, and other gym gear?

I always squatted and deadlifted in socks. I've found that trail running shoes work pretty well for floor lifts, if you don't have Chucks or want to get olympic lifting shoes. Most of them are nowhere near as cushioned as standard running shoes and they slightly elevate your heel.

Otherwise, straps and a belt are the only other pieces of equipment I use. I wish I had used knee wraps back when I squatted heavy; I got pretty close to a 500lb one-rep max @ 195lbs using only a belt. I'm too old to squat heavy anymore. Not too old, per se, but once you hit 40, you have to evaluate whether the wear and tear and injuries (hurt my SI joint in my mid 30s) are worth it.

I got talked into buying a pair of the No Bull trainers. They're good but certainly not worth the premium price tag.

I know a few people that were tricked into buying those. I bet you could sell them for a decent price though.

I just wear my old boxing boots. Flat base with good ankle support.

Don't squat or deadlift super heavy anymore as feel it isn't worth the risk. Use a belt for heavy trap bar lifts tho.
Best peice of equipment I own is wrist supports for pressing, cost less than a tenner and just seem to help keep everything tight (I use a suicide grip).
Have looked at elbow wraps for when the gyms open again as I want to hit a 400 bench.

I've built a decent shoe collection over the past few years. The more shoes you have, the longer they last, so it doesn't really cost anymore in the long run. I find Ebay is a great place to find amazing prices if you're confident in your shoe size.

Reebok Legacy for cleans, snatches, squats
Nike Metcons for most of my lifting, although they're awful for anything athletic (running or jumping etc)
Nike Free trainer 1.0, great for most activities. Flexible, great grip, wide toe box. Usually deadlift in these too if not barefoot.
Rival boxing shoes, these are pretty crappy but they get the job done.
Nike Zoom Celar 5 for track work

I am lifting at home, and I do all lifts barefoot

I deadlift in old slippers that the plastic soles have deteriorated off of.

I squat and press in 14 year old VS Athletic weightlifting shoes with a higher-than-average heel.

For pretty much everything else, it's whatever I happen to be wearing.

Not confident ordering any clothing apparel online. Seem like size would be universal but they vary by 1 or 2 body types.

Reebok and New Balance only shoes that are wide enough for foot.
Nike/ Under Armor / Adidas too tight in middle.

Forum is on life support. It constantly stuck looking for server. They say the Like counter is causing it to crash and put limits on it.

Elbow wraps? Dawg come on.

Does this thing of ours mean nothing to you? Does it hold no sacred value? Fucking elbow wraps lol.

The reason being that whenever I press heavy these days I get bad tendonitis in my right elbow to the extent that even push ups hurt. I don't want to do longterm damage (I no longer squat heavy for similar reasons and use mostly dumbells for shoulders) so my plan is once the gyms are open again to hit a 5x5/531 program to work up to a 400lb bench (my PB is 365lbs) then basically 'retire' from heavy lifting in general. If elbow wraps help with that they are worth it imo.

If you 'hit' 400* in in wraps just make sure you let the masses know that's how you 'did' it.

But elbow wraps are literally that. I’m not sure how you’re drawing the line here.

Unless you mean neoprene elbow sleeves.
I mean the stretchy ones that protect your elbow joint and cost about a tenner. I'm not aware that they make any real difference to the amount you bench.

Having googled it yes you are right I mean sleeves not wraps.
