Sia Makes Song About Autism Goes Full Retard

She went Simple Jack on autistic people.

Once again people in the entertainment industry is so out of touch with reality, like when those celebs did the Imagine song at the beginning of COVID lockdowns

It's not just a song, it's a full length movie. A pretty bad one, apparently.

Explain to the folks at home what autism is.

Sia is absolutely awesome. Easily my favourite pop artist, totally uncomfortable with fame to the point she wears masks and hides her face with hairdos. 40 something Aussie who sings like she's from Jamaica or something. Her lyrics are incisive and her hooks are effortless.

I love her honesty with regards to her mental issues, the death of her boyfriend and her addictions, suicidal thoughts etc. She is the most real, sensitive and talented pop artist out there by a long way.

She did research for this song/film, I think it's a genuine effort without malice. I have high functioning autism and am not offended

I probably just didn't get it.

The reaction to it seems a bit confused, caught between the idea that the depiction of mental illness is a bit cliched and regressive and the idea that a not autistic actor playing the character is a problem.

Looking at that clip and the trailer I can see the former but the latter really is IMHO pretty questionable, it seems like a product of the media basically elevating tokenism to the only issue which matters.

Man she is getting shit on hard by the Outrage Culture zealots. I can see it though. Folks waxing poetic about subjects they clearly don't have a realistic grasp of are clearly infuriating.

But all the usual SJW buzz words and venom from the people that start off with, "I'm not autistic BUT...." just make it seem like a mass virtue signaling event.

I don't remember Ben Affleck getting this much shit for the Accountant.

I am generally quite progressive in my views, and I am getting pretty damn sick of idiot cancel culture making me look bad.

The very idea that you need an actor who is what they are trying to portray misses the whole fucking point of acting.

Its a technique to use real people, Scorsese using his mother as an Italian mother in a scene with Pacino and De Niro. You know the actors will pick up any slack and she'll add some authenticity. Its not something you need to mandate. That's like saying these people are like children that have to be looked after, they deserve as much respect as anyone else.

Sia used the actress because she's her muse at the moment and everything she does has to include her. Its her creative vision, people can take it or leave it imo.
