UFC 260: Stipe vs Ngannou 2

Even so, I'm going with Woodley. far more cage time than Luque, he also has a 7-0 amatuer record, which imo is the same as pro since they don't wear headgear. Bringing his record up to 26-6 making him the far more experience fighter. Luque is missing one of the key ingredients and that is good wrestling. And his split win on Mike Perry makes me wonder how much more dominate Woodley would be if he fought mike perry, it would be far more one sided fight.
Dude, Woodley is not good anymore.

Why bring up his amateur record when he's almost 40 now and has looked like frozen dogshit in his past 3 fights?

Against who? Lets see Gilbert Burns,Kamaru Usman, Colby Covington. Not exactly a cake walk for anyone ? And he went 5 rounds with all of them besides colby getting stopped in the early 5th.

Im not saying Luque cant beat him but I think we are underplaying Woodley's experience here

Did you watch the fights? Woodley looked like a statue. Surely he could have tried to do something, anything vs Burns

Agreed. Large stanzas of that fight was in the stand up at open space and 1 trick pony Woodley was as low volume as ever. I don't even categorize burns in the elite department compared to Usman or Colby either.

I always forget Luque KOed Thiago Santos at 170 back in the day. I guess weight classes and mma math are weird considering the career Thiago has had.

If you see value I can't hate on that. I almost played Woodley against Burns.
Honestly at this point though Mike Perry has a good chance against Woodley. I get the experience thing but past a certain point it can be detrimental.

Examples would be Oleinik and Benavidez recently. Both significantly more experienced and credentialed than their opponents with many more UFC fights who just can't keep up at this level now. Nobody beats father time. TWood bearly even looks like the same person anymore.

To be fair Askar was a sambo fighter . Sambo is basically amateur mma as amateur boxing is to pro boxing, some sambo fights dont even have headgear.

Perfect example of this in theory played out in boxing, Tommy Morrison lost to Micheal Bente who had hundreds of amateur fights and only 10-2 pro boxing. The amateur career made up for experience . In the case of Olynik , he had reached his mileage with so many fights and his chin is all but gone, but we haven't seen Woodley get put out yet. Its a gamble but im gonna try out the experience fighter this time around. Will no doubt play a duplicate parlay without woodley , he is a high risk bet.

I think Luque cracks Woodley honestly.
He is going to constantly pressure and Woodley is too scared to do anything. He trains with Burns and is the better striker. Woodley retires and sticks to 'rapping' and 'acting'.

I keep trying to talk myself out of Luque but this really is JDS and Overeem again.

Wanted to fade Menfield but cherant is pretty mediocre at best.

Watching cherant vs yu ji. What a joke of a fight. Yu ji is a glorified punching bag and cherant has his hands on his hips bent over towards the end of rd 2.

Cherant at times looks like he’s throwing a shot put during his 1-2. menifield should tool him

Menifield -250
Cherant +210

@BigSteve what do you like about morales over young
Just to add my two cents I think there is still value on Omar. Giga Chikadze is legit and I haven't rewatched that fight yet but Giga and the majority of the Kings mma guys are on fire right now. No shame in that loss, Chikadze has come a long way with his kickboxing in mma.

Young has bad strike defense and his chin doesn't look amazing. I need to finish taping it but I like Omar as the more technical striker with sound defense to have alot of success with straight shots and counters here. For the price I think he test Youngs chin and Omar's last opponent would steamroll Young.

Lul, is this an elaborate troll?

Just got an odds boost to +250 for O'Malley KO.

Pickett at 40 dropped Almeida numerous times, his chin has been done for a while.

I'm actually starting to lean Woodley, despite being on Luque KO all week.

Despite his faults, and there are many, Tyron is a cerebral fighter who has shown to be durable even in his last 3 losses.

Luque has historically shown pretty bad TDD, and I know we haven't seen Woodley wrestle in a while, but he's got to know it's his best PTD.

Even in a brawl, I could see 2021 Woodley catching Luque. Rewatching Luque fights, I'm not all that impressed. Perry should've got the nod imo. Also, I know it was a brawl, but Luque was GASSED after that.

If Tyron can get him down a few times, he has heavy top pressure, and I can see him finishing Luque via GnP or a decision.

As good as Luque is, this a major step down in competition for Woodley.

Luque's gameplan never changes, he comes to brawl every single fight. If his wrestling defense hasn't improved, I could see an upset here.

Edit: full disclaimer, only bet I've made on this card is $100 on O'Malley KO +250. I'm going to play Francis for sure, Woodley is intriguing.

“Even if everything I have posted is stupid I am still going to post some other stupid shit”

Two posts later

“Oh I will change my mind based on other people’s opinions.”

I will give you 100 dollars to fuck off and that’s not even a lie

I just posted a hot take on Woodley, then I went back and read his posts and I think my timing on articulating my read is off, I don't want me and this fucking guy to be the only Woodley backers hahaha holy shit

Personally I thought Woodley had his moments against Burns but Burns cardio isn't amazing honestly. I thought Tyron looked alot more washed against Colby though. A little grappling in r1 and he looked pretty gassed. He really just wanted out by r5 in that fight. He totally broke after one late TD in r4 and didn't want to get finished.

Maybe he can hold top position or wall and stall but I doubt he Brunson's his way to a decision against the bigger man here. I really think even a gassed Luque is going to hurt Woodley here. Tyron has also been getting cut open alot more lately too.
