News Former Welterweight champ Tyron Woodley reportedly has parted ways with the UFC

now there is nothing in the way between his fight against jake paul

Haven’t always been the biggest fan but he had a hell of a ride, will always be a Champ.

He’s 39 and his athleticism that gave him such an advantage is starting to slip so he just can’t cut it fighting the top 10 guys in the world anymore

wish him the best in his future, idk about boxing JP. Be embarrassing to take that L IF he does and he’s no boxer

Hope the best for Woodley in whatever he decides to do.

wrestlers who got taste of KO power end u losing alot......once they go back to their roots....they get good again.....

Woodley only had one KO in his title defenses. It was against Till. Masvidal did the same thing to Till around the same time.
It was a submission win via choke.

Unfortunately, after GSP left, I can't remember a title fight at WW that really knocked me off my feet.
That's not to say that all of GSP's fights were highlights. But the run was more impressive than anything that came after it.
I'm happy for T-Wood that he was champ, after all, not everyone can do that. But I was never a fan of him. The end sucks, but you should just notice in time when you no longer have it in you.
Better to hang up his gloves.

Fuck woodley

Fuck you.

I thought he got lucky in his first title defenses, but he kept dropping people
Respect I guess, but imagine training with Askren daily and getting pantsed by Usman and Colby on takedowns.
Roufusport is a joke mma gym
Yeah two mma champions from the same gym. Such a joke! I'm sure your gym is so much better

I never liked Woodley, but after the fight against Luque where he actually came to bang, I was looking forward to seeing him again.

Hope he retires now.

Despite having a big mouth and being one the least beloved champions by the end of his career, woodley was legit. Tyron woodley is up there with gsp and Matt hughes.

I don't know if it was age or whatever but it's always been a young mans game.

Hopefully the UFC will continue to allow him to be a commentator for them.

Jake wont get anywhere near Woodley lmao.

Not really surprising. Dude hasn't had a good performance in .... like shit I can't even remember. He was already older when he became champ, not a lot left to do with him in the UFC. Can't even feed him to prospects because his name value doesn't really mean anything at this point. He might land in Bellator or something if he's smart, he might be dumb and go to ONE if they offer it and get fucking throttled by some dudes nobody has ever heard of.

lucky for he has got a great rap career to fall back on.
but in all honestly sad his rapping is actually better than his fighting. Lost 16 straight rounds to finish off his career...should have called it quits after losing to Usman or at least gone to Bellator then.

Looks like he's boxing a Paul next then. There is the storyline with Askren being his friend and teammate. Dana said it's time after he lost the Luque fight. 4 losses in a row and contract over. So no surprise. And he will get paid vs a Paul, also already asked for the match.

Overall career he's close to top 5 at WW ever. Which means the career was excellent, as WW has always been one of the strong divisions. From top prospect listed on this site to multiple time defending champ.

But I always felt Woodley had a next level, even as champ. Use both hands, learn to box, as the wrestling and gameplanning for Till, Maia and WB already were there. Use his physical strength in submissions, get better at them. Then he would've reached GSP's level.
