Don't be an idiot

Absolutely....but....he really didn't dry fire.
He actually live fired.....through his hand.
I know I shouldn't make jokes....but damn....that hand is seriously messed up.
I'm a gun guy through and through....but safety is absolutely top priority to me.
Yeah
Live firing into ones hand seems like a bad idea.

I don't think even Bob Ross would call that a happy little accident.

Rip Bob Ross.....
And TS was stupid....but at least he owns his stupid and posted pics. Thankfully nobody else was hurt and hopefully he learned a valuable lesson.

Yes

I am glad he shared his experience.
We should all share our triumphs as well as our short comings. That's how we learn

Not how I would handle it....but good luck man. Seriously....hope everything heals up without any permanent damage.

Yep, tough lesson for being stupid but I honestly got off light. Seriously lucky that I didn't rip through a bone or tendon or anything.

You own your fk ups....and I have to respect that part. Like I said before....I truly hope you heal up and that you learned a valuable lesson. Keep us posted on how the hand is.

Jesus, how do you not go to the hospital?

Please, follow your own thread title and dont be an idiot....again. Seek medical attention before you lose your hand entirely.

After this heals people are going to claim it's luck.

I have never dry fired a gun.
It wears out the pin.
And hammer on hammer guns.
But I generally shoot older guns.

That is pretty dangerous though.
Dry firing is really only bad on rim fire weapons, most center fire ones it will literally do nothing. Obviously its still not great. Modern guns I wouldn't stress about it unless they're rimfire.

I usually use old rifles and shotguns.

Like old mauser rifles and hammer shotguns.

I don't think I've even held a hammer shotgun, though I bet it is a great feeling to cock back the double hammers.

Feels good unless you let both hammers go on the double barrels.
Which is pretty hard to do really.
There's two triggers also.

I got rifles with 2 triggers also.
The front trigger is a set trigger that makes the back trigger a hair trigger so you don't pull off target.

Healing fairly well. No infection thanks to my robust immune system. Did some pull ups today. Will be able to hit the heavy bag soon

For comparison, this is what it looked like 4 days ago.

The biggest danger will actually come when the wound starts closing up. That will likely be when you're at the biggest risk of Gangrene or a massive abscess.
